let's bring in cnn's erin mclaughlin. she is in the paris bureau. erin good morning. >> reporter: good morning, john. that's right. authorities here in france say they are looking for accomplices. the french prime minister say they are doing everything they can to dismantle what appears to be a larger network. he said they made arrests last week. there may be more in the future. meanwhile, there is a new surveillance footage out of turkey from the istanbul airport dated january 2nd. five days before the "charlie hebdo" attacks. it shows 26-year-old fugitive hayat boumeddiene, the girlfriend of the kosher market attacker passing through the airport with a man at the time. authorities unknown without information from the french they flagged her for surveillance and tracked her all the way to the turkish syrian border. it is believed she passed through the border last week. her whereabouts are unknown now. speculation she may be with isis. if that is the case it is difficult to bring her to justice. there are concerns about her potential propaganda valu

erin mclaughlin did some digging. >> reporter: this is the footage that stunned a republic.olice officers dead. experts say guns were most likely bought on the black market even though france has some of the toughest gun laws in the world. how easy is it to get a gun in france? >> a matter of hours if you are low key. a matter of 30 minutes if you know where to go and when to go. >> reporter: a security analysts says in the last five years there's been an influx of illegal weapons into europe. >> as a state, libya was destroyed. >> reporter: criminal networks got ahold of gadhafi weapons and everything has been smuggled through europe's porous borders and are readily available to criminals and terrorists in france. the average french citizen wanting to buy a legal weapon face as different reality. in france it's not easily to legally buy a gun. you need a license. you have to pass an extensive background check and even then you don't really own the weapon. you have to reapply for that license every three to five years. a gun shop owner says even though more people are likely

let's bring in erin mclaughlin in our paris bureau. has been looking at these threads in the investigation. good morning, erin. >> reporter: good morning, john. that is right. french prime minister saying the priority of the government right now looking for any accomplices to last week's terror attacks. he noted they already made arrests last week. the priority very much being dismantling what seems to be a larger network. meanwhile, new footage dated january 2nd from istanbul turkey. the airport showing the 26-year-old fugitive and girlfriend of the kosher supermarket attacker hayat boumeddiene passing through the airport with a male companion. turkish authorities spotted her and they were not tipped off at that point. they managed to track her to an area near the turkish/syrian border. it is believed she has crossed over. unclear if she is in fact with isis. french authorities vowed to bring her to justice. if she has reached isis. it will be difficult to accomplish that. they expressed concerns about her propaganda value. the focus i

cnn's erin mclaughlin joins us now. what more have you learned about the investigation? >> reporter: the prime minister of france saying that amedy coulibaly had an accomplice. that announcement on the heels of that isis video that mysteriously emerged on the internet yesterday in which coulibaly pledged his allegiance to yesterday. the prime minister saying there is a real threat facing france and they're increasing the security in this country as a result. let me take you through some of the numbers. 8,700 police officers on the street. 4,700 police officers at jewish schools. and the ministry of defense here in france announcing some 10,000 more troops to maintain security here in this country. you know those really are short-term solutions and analysts i've been speaking to say there are some serious long-term problems not just facing france but europe as well. yesterday there was a meeting of european justice ministers and interior ministers on their agenda talking about greater cooperation within europe, things like increasing border controls increasing or adjustin

erin mclaughlin has more. a very special honor bestowed on these officers.an you explain to these viewers exactly what he gave them. >> reporter: hi jim. he placed medals on each of the three coffins and he said that these police officers died upholding the values of the republic their professionalism, their courage. he said their sacrifice. he said that you know these three individuals really represented the unity and the solidarity of france and he named them one by one. there was a married father of two who was killed in the charlie hebdo offices. he was shot and slain by the kouachi brothers. and then he named clariss jean-philippe. a police officer shot in the back by the kosher market killer on the streets of paris and then he named a muslim police officer who was killed on the streets of paris by one of the kouachi brothers and his funeral was later in the day following the ceremony around 800 people attended. when a group of police officers arrived at the funeral, they received a round of applause. many people here in france have been tweeting out th
