ernie anastos is off tonight. we're in the midst of one of the most conscientious presidential races on record. bernie sanders and hillary clinton are in a bitter fight. if donald trump loses ohio, the gop could go into its convention without a set nominee. if any of the candidates could lock down the women's vote, it could be a different race. >> reporter: we hear the term girl power all the time. when it comes to the girl power is stronger than what you might think. women as a whole make up 53 percent of the electorate. >> more than half the people who show up at the polls will be women. >> reporter: paige garner is the founder. it's a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the number of single minority and millennial women who vote. women in general are a powerhouse, but gardner says single women have grown into a voting bloc to be reckoned with. they're 25 to 26 percent of the electorate. >> they will have a huge impact on what happens and which candidate is elected. >> reporter: take a look at history. in 2012, single women from all backgrounds voted for president obama by a margin of 67 to 31 p

sanders love train. juan: before we get on the love train, i have to say of ernie gets nominated, we have yet to see theeal attacks -- >> we are ready. we are ready. juan: at this point, the attacks are concentrated mostly on trump. i would like to bring melina abdullah into this conversation. in terms of the appeal that dolores huerta has made to black lives matter to get involved when it comes to voting, even not just at the presidential level, but the congressional and senate races that are up and coming that will really determine what any president will be able to do, your response to dolores huerta? >> i think we have a great deal of respect for dolores huerta as well as dr. west. it is really important we understand what black lives matter is saying. we are saying that no candidate deserves our endorsement. that does not mean we are telling people to stay home. it is really kind of a personal decision. some people will go to the polls and vote for something else. maybe they won't vote for the president. maybe they won't vote for democrat or republican for president. the most important thing for us

sanders is the most important candidate in the field right now. he is a viable alternative to the mainstream candidates. i would encourage everyone to go out and support ernie in this election will be college tuition as well as jobs. when college kids go to school, they want to know how they will afford it. as well is future and job market will look like. as president of the college democrats, i think those are the most important issues in the cycle. >> i am not that politically inclined. i went with hillary because she seems more knowledgeable. she has represented my country before as secretary of state. she is 30 seen the inner workings of the white house.
