what do you see, errol? >> cruz doing very well. it may in fact reflect what is said to be a pretty good ground organization that's out there. we should keep in mind it doesn't play itself out on election day. in the runup to election day, if you're doing your job, building support, it may start to find its way into the polls. that was one number that jumped out at me. also, the krifchristie number, back in the pack. from 2% to 6% is more than he started at. he's ending up the year with another three-day swing through iowa where he's doing a whole bunch of meet and greets and a couple of town halls. he seems to think he has room to grow and to make a good enough showing that that plus a good showing in new hampshire will sort of launch the christie campaign in a big way. that's what's worth noting in this poll. >> do you want to do the embarrassed thing. >> the embarrassed thing. >> would you be embarrassed if so-and-so were president. we have hillary clinton and donald trump. 50% embarrassed. you get to clinton. and that's not exac

errol, to you, the clinton campaign says that hillary clinton will not be bullied or distracted. they put this out there. by the personal attacks on her husband. what does this all mean in terms of bill clinton as he emerges on the stage? and what does it mean in terms of strategically how the clintons use him? >> i doubt the clintons will lose half a step. after what happened in the late 1990s, with the impeachment, all the press, it is the biggest story in the literally for months and months. i don't think there will be be anything they can throw at the clintons they're not ready for and prepared to respond to. and frankly i'm not sure the voters want to hear too much about this. i think what they'll do is sort of take the issue and then do a quick pivot and talk about women's issues. this is what hillary clinton has done time and time again about women's wages, about how the majority of the people making minimum wage and why it needs to rise. pay equity legislation, pay equity ruling on and on. i think that's where the conversation will end quickly. >> donald trump is also tak

. >> it's so interesting, errol.mbracing donald trump's third wedding and people wondering whether this morning there's going to be some public spat between bill clinton and donald trump. it's not just the clintons that trump is going after. he's also going after the south carolina congressman trey gowdy, the chair, who is going to be campaigning with marco rubio. he's gone after the virginia gop. so this is trump that is in fighting mode. >> well that's right, keep in mind, again, trump's base is republican-based voters who are disaffected by and angry with other republican mainstream. that includes the party organizations like the virginia organization. that includes almost everybody in congress. trey gowdy, is a slightly different case. he's the one who found the clinton e-mails. he's going to always have a certain amount of credibility with the conservative base. the fact that he's sort of defecting towards trump and going towards rubio is where it's coming. >> errol louis, andy smith, thanks, guys. i'll be right

errol, when you look at some of the rhetoric as we were talking about, coming from donald trump todayhow does that impact muslim americans? >> it exacerbates the problem we have with regard to trying to build a bridge. they are often recruited and targeted because of our foreign policy. they are often recruited and targeted because of some of the statements that are made. they believe they are being marginalized. here we are in the law enforcement and intelligence community trying to enlist some trust. you have a statement that suggests that you are not an american. this really makes things more difficult. homegrown violent extremism and homegrown terrorism begins with that alienation factor. counterterrorism begins and ends with the community. any time we have statements like this that are so inflammatory, it really throws a truck load of bricks into the wall between us and the community we need. >> and the president calling for people not to discriminate against muslims in this country, reiterating the fact the extremists out there who are bringing religion into this are a small fac

errol we'll get to your research in a second. today's news i want to look at that raid on enheek marquez' home. he bought two guns in the attack but so distraught he couldn't talk to authorities and checked himself into a clibic. reports are they talked to him but he couldn't give much detail because he was so distraught. what are the key questions for him? >> the key questions for him, chris, will be of course about the weapons, how they were purchased, what they'd do with them, whether he had weapons before. the question is the social network of the couple, how large is it, what kinds of conversations did they have, is there a broader plot, were there other targets? we need to get the scope of their relationships and the scope of their plot under wraps before we can go forward and get our arms around what's going on. >> we're also hearing the fbi talk farook's mother for nine hours. she lived with the couple described as a bomb making factory. what could she offer, nine hours for most of us seems like a long time, but what are
