let's discuss with errol louis, and rina shah, senior adviser for republican women for congress. great to have you back. that list of accomplishments on the screen, do you think that changes significantly the landscape for democrats heading into the midterms? >> it certainly giving them ammunition and energy to go out on the campaign trail. will it sell? that's the real question. there are a lot of democrats that are dispirited. they understand, frankly, there's a difference between getting a legislative win here in august, and somebody seeing it play out in their lives. you know, i mean a lot of those energy credits are going to be for if you put in new heat pumps or solar panels on your house, you can deduct 30% of the cost next year. is that going to get people exited in the next 90 days, which is what matters for congressional democrats. not necessarily. it's going to be a real political balancing act. they're going to have to sell this about what's going to happen in the future. it doesn't necessarily work when americans are cranky, paying high bills and not necessarily beli

joining us now is cnn political commentator, errol louis, a columnist for "new york magazine," good to have you back. it's not subtle here that he's going to pennsylvania three times in a week. the political element here is clear but the message he's delivering at this point specifically on community safety, how much of that is about policy potentially, or is it all driven toward the midterms. >> much of it is driven by the politics of an interesting policy. when he said 100,000 cops would be hired under has proposal, i went right back to 1994 when bill clinton, another democratic president seeking to get reelected offered to hire 100,000 cops nationwide, and it worked out for bill clinton, so the policies are unmistakable. whether or not crime came down because of those 100,000, which in the end was 88,000 hired from 1994 to 2000, it's unclear whether or not there was a straight line correlation, but this is the president taking action, this is the president trying to insulate his party about the charge that democrats are soft on charge. the politics leads to the policy. there's no wa

i want to bring in cnn counterterrorism analyst and former fbi intelligence adviser phil mudd, errol louisphil, classified documents relating to nuclear weapons. put this into context for us. >> boy, let me give you a couple perspectives. i neshlly down played this because when you think of classified documents, if you think about a car on a car lot from a 15-year-old clunker with 200,000 miles to new maserati, this is at the new maserati end of the car lot. you can look at documents that might have been explainable in mar-a-lago. for example, maybe the president kept transcripts of his conversations with presidents in europe. documents how he decided to withdraw from the climate treaty. i would have said, you know, i wouldn't worry about that too much. nuclear stuff, let me give you a clear picture of how significant that. i had a top secret code word clearance for 25 years, deputy director of national security at the fbi, i do not believe based on my understanding of these documents that i would have had the clearance to view them. i don't know what else to say. this is serious stuff tha
