it is the largest estuary on the west coast. i hope this isn't an omen of all of the slides because we're going to all have to turn funny. it's the largest estuary on the west coast on both the north and south american continents. it's a region that's home to about 7 million people. it's beautiful, prosperous, a spectacular place. this is my beat. this is where i work. now, this is the bay back in the middle of the 19th century. the yellow area shows where the bay used to be, where the tidal wetlands were. it used to be much bigger than it is today. but siltation from hydraulic gold mining, diking to create salt ponds and duck hunting clubs, garbage dumps along the shore of the bay and frankly land fill operations to create real estate reduced the size of the bay by about a third between 1849 and 1960. that's when the united states army corps of engineers produced this map. it was intended to show that it was economically feasible and, in fact, desirable to fill another 60 percent of the bay. that was their intention. instead, w

as far as the overall weather story this was the scene looking out towards the oak estuary. looking at the low clouds even fog off in the distance earlier this evening. weather story more fog on the increase. minor warming expected into next week primarily for tuesday. far as temperatures for tomorrow, the rain -- range from the upper 50s to the beaches. 60s. the warmest locations only in the low to mid-70s. around 74 to 75 degrees. quite a bit of activity down to our south down towards central california. we have been watching this. for the passed couple of days the source of some thunderstorms. for us, it is close enough to the bay area's eventual track for tomorrow. we do have to bring in the slight chance of a few showers or thunderstorms. primarily for the south bay. and also for the east bay. but the bulk of the activity will be outside of the bay area. and temperatures will cool off a good 6-12 degrees from today's highs. this other system moving in from the north as we do head into monday will generate a few extra clouds, especially for the north bay neighborhoods. a

this was the scene looking out towards the oak estuary earlier this afternoon. all of the clouds still in place. in fact we still have mostly cloudy skies. and mostly cloudy conditions. clearing skies with the temperatures moving up. the extended forecast we re- introduce the possibility of a few showers especially up in the north bay. temperatures for tomorrow we will be warmer. the range from the low to mid- 60s coastside. they will reach around 74 to 75 degrees. this is the overall weather system to take out the circulation. that's an area of low pressure. it will be on the move for tomorrow. in fact, here is the eventual track. it will be heading down towards southern california as we do head into monday. as high pressure rebuilds we will gradually scale back on the cloud cover with the clouds becoming partly to mostly sunny over the afternoon hours. temperatures will go the other direction for tomorrow. those readings around 10-15 degrees warmer as we do head into your monday. still pretty nice as we head into your tuesday as well. here is our forecast mode
