he was apparently friends at one point with history professor ethan schmidt who would become one of the victims. last year schmidt published a book which i mentioned lamb and other university staff in the acknowledgements thanking them for their quote, support and friendship. although lamb was familiar with both victims, police say they found no evidence to suggest that the two victims knew each other. here is what the police chief said in a news conference this morning. >> first thing i would like to do is dispel any rumors our investigation is leading toward this being a quote, love triangle. we have no information. we have no evidence to show or prove this was quote a love triangle about. >> reporter: police say an electronic license plate reader identified the suspect's car as it was crossing a bridge from arkansas back into mississippi last night. officers followed lamb into a subdivision where they say he left the vehicle, ran into a wooded area. police say they heard a gunshot. when they went into the woods they found lamb dead with what appeared to be a self-inflicted wound to t
