ethics said the complaint would not stand up in court. the sunshine ordinance does not say that complaints must be court sustainable. ethics is formulating a requirement that has no basis in law and is on known to anyone. in regard to the 123-page memo from ethics, this shows an attempt to avoid dealing with complaints by focusing on whether a violation was willful. there is an easier way to address this. there is a requirement of commissioners, department heads, and program managers, to take periodic training. people signed a declaration under penalty of perjury. thus, if an employee complaint against has signed that document, it is possible that they have been negligent in their retraining, and have committed perjury by signing it. its ethics simply looked at whether the sworn statements are filed, that is an easier way to establish whether there was negligence and culpability on the part of the respondent. ethics approach now is a hybrid legalistic and will discourage complaints from being filed. these observations are coming from the o

up? we're headed into the ethical dimension next. actually, we're headed into islam- you know, we're going to be looking at islamic teachings and again asking islam to help us understand doctrine. but the key underlying point in this class and the previous one with jonestown- and chris's comment was also a very helpful way to kind of end this class- that hey, folks, you know, we're not just- you know, it's just not hanging out getting humanities credit or three units of credit. we have to pay attention to religion- it can't just be a privatized thing in a free society. maybe it was okay when vastly everybody was protestant or something, you know, 150 years ago. but as we become more religiously diverse, as we see more pressures on people, we are going to see more extreme kinds of religious behavior. so that's the power of religious belief, and we'll keep on it in the next class, looking at islam.

up. you know not only is there a work ethic there, there's a level of enthusiasm that reflects a strong value of love for neighborhood and a love for the city. that is why note -- mohammad nuru has been selected to be our new public works director for the long haul and will help naomi and all the other departments of the city administrator's office collaborate with the rest of the city family to get things done. i am so proud of mohammed, proud of his consistent effort to reflect his love for neighborhood, that i will be out of their wine saturday from this weekend, on a march 10, to begin my resurgence in the cleanup teams of saturday mornings, and to make sure that you know that just because the mayor said in room 200, i do not sit in that room, i use that room to empower the rest of the networks. i will be out there. when it comes to carmen's district, i will not only be part of the cleanup teams, but i will spend a couple hours both saturday's opening up myself to a neighborhood involvement. and i ask neighbors to join me. i will buy them a cup of coffee. because i am proud to be part of
