mark: the problem started monday at this kfc on east euclid. while a city employee was eating inside, someone went into his unlocked city truck and stole his lunchbox. inside that lunchbox was a large set of keys to locks around the city, as well as city equipment. the assistant manager at kfc told police his security cameras don't work. now police can't be sure they're connected, but two days after those keys were stolen, someone let themselves in to the greater des moines softball park. and that's the worry that the person or people who stole the keys know the kind of access they now have in their hands. the police report states it is not known if the gate was accidently left unlocked but the officer did find damage to the building at the softball park, although nothing was missing. eric: city manager scott sanders told kcci the effort to replace a significant number of locks to des moines properties around town and equipment is underway. they contract out this work to locksmiths and sanders said at this time, he doesn't know how much it will

deputy told us a driver hit a westbound train on euclid avenue. he says traffic was stopped right before the double tracks, as an eastbound train just finished crossing. as the crossing bar started to go up, it went back down because of a westbound train. authorities say that's when the driver drove forward colliding with the oncoming engine. the benton county sheriff's office says they have one person in custody. there was a child in the vehicle. no word on age or if the kid was hurt. authorities say this is an ongoing investigation. family and friends will soon honor the life of an 18-year-old iowa state student who was killed earlier this week. emmalee jacobs died monday after a hit and run on the ames campus. she just graduated from center point-urbana high school last may. jacobs spent a lot of time participating in youth programs at the center point united methodist church. that's where her visitation will be this evening, from 4 to 8. jacob's funeral will be tomorrow morning at 10-30 inside the center-point urbana high school. authorities a
