and this light shower along salinas and this is all well to the north and bringing soaking rain to eureka and it will bring us some downpours and heavy rain of what we saw and early tomorrow morning and ahead of that front it feels kind of mild out there. a nice south wind and we're in the 60s. 64 in san jose and 61 in oakland and 690 current number in san francisco and a bit cooler in the north bay and 59 napa and concord checking in at 59 degrees and overnight with that cloudy cover holding overhead temperatures not too far and we're in store for a mild night. at holt and 53 from santa rosa and 58 in san jose and another line of rain. storm impact scale to bring it back and this is a bit of a strong storm that we saw the previous day. a moderate storm on the storm impact scale and the reason why, we'll likely see some downpours very early tomorrow morning and tapering to lighter showers and urban areas, we could see as much as three inches of rain out of this system. so hour by hour we go. let's go through tonight. 7:00 into the midnight hour. you notice the light showers do increase in

folks, the front is north of eureka but will be here in the bay area by 6:00 or 7:00 tomorrow morninglots of rain for us lots of snow for the sierra. winter storm watch has been upgraded to a winter storm warning. get above 8,000 feet in elevation, we could have up to 36 inches of fresh snowfall by tomorrow night and friday morning. and the winds are going to be strong and at 65 to 75 miles per hour at that elevation. it was mild today 5 degrees warmer than normal. 61 for san jose and currently 56 with light rain in santa rosa, 58 san francisco. as you would expect a mild cloudy night tonight. ahead of that rain that's moving in, fremont 56. concord 54. fairfield low 53. pacifica 54 degrees overnight tonight. so where's the storm? well, this low pressure area is actually pulling the front to the north before it gets closer and slams that front through so the timing is going to be critical because it's not going to be raining everywhere. the rain will come in waves tomorrow. tonight scattered showers, not that much going on. tomorrow morning there will be a lot going on. sonoma county,

coastal flooding today around the eureka area.wise, taking the precipitation, generally, the bulk of it to the pacific north west. higher elevations of the cascades. we have a vigorous jet stream storm after storm into the bay area. i've gathered computer models and segwayed them together. the clouds are going to filter back in and by the everyoning commute, they've thickened up. tomorrow morning by this time we'll have hit and miss scattered showers around the north bay. for the most part they want to keep this north of the bridge. if we see any rain to the south it will be minimal. large surf and probably urban and strong stream flood advisories. this first system only a tenth of an inch of rain. the next system up to 6 inches of rain in the coastal mountain ranges. 47 degrees today andty winter weather watch in effect tuesday. up to 6 inches at the lake level on tuesday. 7:16. we cool off rapidly. winds today out of the north 5- 10 miles an hour. gusty winds and heavy rain thursday. dry wet ever for the weekend. enjoy your day.

that boatload of kurdish refugees 18 years ago was also a eureka moment for mayor lucano. rather than seeing them as a threat or a disrupter, he saw them as the town's future-- an opportunity. young refugees in search of better lives needed homes, and riace had hundreds of empty ones to fill. >> ( translated ): even if you're here by yourself, you get your own house. because this is the strategy that we launched from the beginning. the whole town is a migrant center. >> reporter: not only would refugees get their own homes to live in, lucano started a program to transform other abandoned houses into all types of artistic workshops, giving refugees skills to help them independently earn a living. migrants and refugees have also found work in the mayor's office and other municipal jobs. of course, it takes money to make all this happen. the italian national government subsidizes riace and towns like it the equivalent of 30 dollars a day for every refugee for one year. riace uses the funds to renovate homes, help migrants start new businesses, and pay them a monthly stipend.
