it's making the commute to work and school a dangerous journey "action news" reporter eva pilgrim is live at the septa fern rock station. good morning eva. >> reporter: good morning, tam this is dangerously cold outside you do not need to be outside for very long. we've been showing you this science experiment this is one where you throw the hot water and it turns into snow, i'll do it quickly here, one two three! whew, there you go, i got a little bit on my hand. it shows you how cold it is. it doesn't take anytime for the hot water to turn into snow. the temperatures make it dangerous for people outside. it makes it difficult for the rail line and the buses to operate. they operate on air pressure moving through the vehicles. on the septa line because of the way the rail wires are they contract in the cold weather and so the trains actually have to slow down in order to be able to operate on the lionels. that means you'll see some delays as you head to the platforms and bus stations this morning. >> we don't want people to be standing out on platforms waiting for trains and buses.
