tom. >> eva pilgrim for us, thank you. >>> we're also following another breaking story tonight. gunmen storming an intercontinental hotel in kabul, afghanistan, shooting at guests. security guards in a shoot-out with the assailants. here's abc's jennifer eccleston. >> reporter: tonight, special forces battling armed attackers holed up inside kabul's intercontinental hotel in a siege of the afghan capital. four gunmen storming the luxury high-rise around 9:00 p.m., firing on security guards and then guests. dozens caught in the crossfire and reports of hostages. parts of the hotel on fire. afghan forces combing the hotel, killing two of the assailants, one a suicide bomber police say, the second terror attack on the hotel. in 2011, a taliban assault left 11 dead. kabul is a city on alert, after months of extremist violence. just two days ago, the u.s. embassy warned of possible attacks against hotels in afghanistan, advising americans to stay vigilant. the state department tonight says it's monitoring the situation and trying to determine if any u.s. citizens have been affected.
