our other headlines tonight five votes, five votes separated evan low and joe simitian.ount is now over. low advances to november, and simitian is eliminated. this is the expensive and high profile race to replace congresswoman anna eshoo. here's nbc's gia vang a recount of about 182,000 ballots that dragged on for nearly three weeks. but tonight, i am incredibly excited about this opportunity to advance to the november election, if anything demonstrated. also that every vote counts, five votes total was the difference in two counties to give assembly member evan lowe the win over santa clara county supervisor joe simitian. after initially tying for second in the primary race for the 16th congressional district, simitian said in a statement he accepts the results and is disappointed. lowe got four more votes in santa clara county after its final count yesterday, it was san mateo county where 16 envelopes in question had to be examined by voting officials and the postal service. and today, bottom line is evan lowe received one additional ballot for his race, and everythin

a recount shows evan low has come in second place after the final ballots were tallied today. he, you'll remember, was tied with joe simitian after the election. but the addition of challenge ballots broke that tie. so let's go ahead and bring in nbc bay area's ian cull, who's been following this race closely for weeks now. ian, tell us the latest. yeah. you know, after santa clara county announced its final count yesterday, evan low held a four count lead. but there was still the question of those 16 challenge ballots in san mateo county today, officials there made a ruling that seven previously uncounted votes were admitted. and in the end, the numbers show evan low edged out joe simitian by a total of just five votes. a san mateo county had no change in the initial results of its recount, so this ruling on those 16 ballots was key. low gained one more. simitian did not gain any low posted on social media, saying, we are very excited that my advancement into the general election was reaffirmed and look forward to the next eventful chapter in this race. he also said this elec

cnn senior justice correspondent evan perez is in florida. he's got details for us. what can you tell us? seven well, in these hundreds of pages of documents, we're getting a little bit of behind the scenes luck of the scramble that was going on. >> as the government was trying to retrieve documents from the possession of donald trump here in, here in florida. what we're seeing in some of these documents is some images of walt nauta, who is one of the co-defendants. see somebody who works for the former president. and these these these images are from surveillance video appear to show him moving boxes sometime around june of 2022. now, this is after trump had received get a subpoena ordering him to turn over documents and his lawyer was going to do a search to try to find some of these documents. what the government is saying is that this is proof that nauta, at the direction of the former president, was trying to move boxes, move classified documents, so that the lawyer would not be able to find it. now part of this is all explaining why judge beryl howell in washin
