evans. her capture that ended with a crash today. fox 5's will thomas is working this one tonight. will. >> police say she was trying to rob a third bank when someone saw her drive off, got the plate, and a cop was on her tail. by 1:30 this afternoon, it was all over. captured, a 26-year-old one woman threat according to police. after nearly two weeks, stephanie schwab is in custody. investigators say she walked into this bb, and t bank in mcclane, demanded money, but didn't get any. she drove off in a blue ford escape with pennsylvania tags. the car was already reported stolen. within 30 minutes of the attempted bank robbery, a fairfax county police officer spotted the stolen car on the beltway and followed it into bethesda. officers say schwab crashed the car on old georgetown road. she didn't get far. >> i don't know exactly how the crash occurred. i don't believe speed was a factor. she wrecked and jumped out of the vehicle. >> alleged crime spree started november 18. schwab is accused of robbing a bank. the next day, she is accused of carjacking a woman at the tyson's two mall

thomas e. dewey's problem. the party was evenly split between what is called the eastern establishment, the old teddy roosevelt wing of the party. charles evan hughes was in that tradition. thomas e. dewey represented that. and then dwight eisenhower. opposed to that were the conservatives, mid westerners, many of them isolationists who rallied around bob taft. he was a son of the former president, ironically who had precipitated the split in 1912. his father had precipitated the split with teddy roosevelt. that never really healed. when republicans took congress, it was the conservatives who became the face of the party. on the other hand, you had people like thomas e. dewey, many of the governors who were much less cost out to the new -- much less hostile to the new deal, much more willing to work with its promises. >> thomas e. dewey is our contender tonight. he ran for the presidency, he lost, but he changed history anyway. here he is launching his campaign in 1948 and the criticism he has of the truman administration. >> on january 20, we will enter in a new era. on january 20, there will begin in washington the biggest unraveling, unsn

evans. police rushed to the scene tonight and when it was all over, that suspect had been shot. it happened along clay terrace in northeast. fox 5's will thomas is following new details in the newsroom. >> good evening. the video just came back to the newsroom. witnesses say a man was randomly firing his handgun into the air and into apartments and within moments of police arriving they opened fire on him. let's go to the scene there. again this is clay terrace in northeast d.c. just before 7:00. officers confronted a man who was firing his gun. we're told he'd shoot off a round or two, then conceal the gun. police say he refused orders to drop it and that's when four officers fired on the suspect. witnesses and neighbors say they heard at least 30 gunshots. here's chief cathy lanier. >> there were several calls that came in, first for a man with a gun shooting at the houses. then calls came in for a man high on pcp firing a weapon. as officers entered the block, they heard the gunfire and observed the gunfiring. >> they were performing cpr on the suspect. we don't know if police identified him yet. investigators are there right now documenti
