cnn senior justice correspondent evan perez is with me now. evan, what more are you learning? >> reporter: yeah, brianna, the investigators are being driven in this direction by some of the evidence that we haven't seen. they are taking a look at indications, for instance, and evidence that shows that certain people who left the rally outside of the white house and made their way to perhaps their cars or some other place where they had left some of these weapons that they then used to storm the capitol. there were things that you couldn't get close to the white house with because you had to leave backpacks and everything else because of the security there, and they were able to bring things like crowbars and sledgehammers and climbing ropes. there were indications that people clearly had tactical gear that they had trained to be able to use. and you can see some of the videos that have now been made public that the fbi is taking a closer look at that indicates you can tell from the people who were talking about what they were trying to do that they had some foreknowledge and s

evan perez is out front.stunning thing to come out of the department of justice to admit people will be shocked. so first please, what is the fbi now saying about what the threats were before? >> reporter: well, they're talking about a particular report that the washington post first wrote the story about. it's a report that came from the norfolk fbi office and it was shared here in washington with the officials, including with the capitol police, erin. it talked about some of the threats that were being discussed online including discussions of an appearance that someone knew about tunnels at the capitol. i'll tell you -- i'll read you just a part of what the online discussion was. it said, quote -- i'm sorry. it said be ready to fight. congress needs to hear glass breaking, doors being kicked in, get violent. stop calling this a march or a rally or a protest. go there ready for war. we get our president or we die. that's the language, the stark language that was being discussed in this online forum. we're t

i want to go straight to cnn's evan perez, evan, who has been arrested? >> reporter: we have a national round-up. among the arrest at the justice department now announced is a man by the name of adam johnson. he was named back home in florida and we're expecting he's going to be appearing in court here in washington, dc next week but really, he's one of the ones that you see in those images. he's holding the lectern of the speaker of the house, nancy pelosi. another arrest, a man by the name of jacob chancely, the one you see in some of the images with face paint and a sort of bearskin hat. another one arrested is derek evans, who is a delegate from the house of delegates in west virgin virginia. just a flavor of the 17 or so arrests that the federal government, i'm sorry, the federal prosecutors have brought in federal court. there's another 40 or so that are facing charges in municipal or local courts here in washington. we're told that this is a nationwide effort now. but really, i want to stop for a minute. despite the carnival atmosphere of the image
