i call excelsior my home. you know, i don't know sue diamond personally. i have not worked with her in the past. i am sure she's a remarkable lawyer. i don't know her. my community don't know her. we are ground zero when it comes black and brown communities are being displaced. we are being removed from the city that we built that we groomed and we nurtured. we love. it just doesn't love us back. i think, yes, cool, let's get a balance device someone that has all sides. we are done with that. i don't think being a lawyer gives you an automatic pass. you can save on a commission. this is a shock collar position. this is a key leadership appointment. i think we need a lawyer. we need activists. we need people that are going to fight for us. they are going to listen to us. they are going to collaborate and not organize people's color, leadership and expertise. again, i don't know her track record. it sounds awesome. in our community, we don't know her. we are in a crisis. over 10,000 latinos displaced from the mission district. we are less than 3% african-ame

it's our great pleasure to have her as a long-time resident of district 11 and the excelsior. she moved in '94, and has been calling the city by the bay home ever since. she changes the lives of san francisco residents who have multiple diagnoses and has become the first transgender woman elected of the lgbt pride. after working for housing for homeless and public health, she began to lend other leadership to capacity building and hiv prevention and care as well as a global movement of people living with hiv. as a transgender immigrant living with hiv, cecilia has been tirelessly working for her beloved community. she's one of the original founders of the san francisco transgender empowerment and mentorship. as an advisor of the transgender resources and neighborhood space, trans, before this program moved to san francisco community health center. and the chief architect of the first transgender economic development initiative funded by the city and county of san francisco. in 2004, cecilia helped found trans march in san francisco, an event that's been replicated across the c

it began in north beach and was moved to -- the company moved to the excelsior in the 60s and 70s. the original operator that works there for almost 60 years is still alive, and we gave him a certificate of recognition for turning 100 this past spring. there's been movies filmed at this location, and many, many businesses around san francisco, many of them in north beach and other places, actually get their daily bread from this particular location. it's also a wonderful reflection of the blend of the diversity of our neighborhood which historically consisted of latin americans and italians living side by side. so i'm requesting that the committee prepare a landmark historic report to present to the historic preservation commission based on this mission street location and to determine whether this site warrants historic designation. i want to thank the folks from s.f. heritage who have also reached out immediately to talk to us about their support for this particular location. i think this is an important piece of history. we also intend for the record to initiate legacy business
