there's a large sampling of these in the current exhibition. that year, 1994, i wrote an article that explained the nes preservation project. it was titled what are the photographs of jacob riis. it began with a lantern slide of roots look at this. that's what the slide looks like. this is a kind of material that was buried because lantern slides were not available to researchers. this slide is an example of how riis's -- doesn't look like a modern documentary photographer. with -- it became to me that the collection was not a body of work. but the raw material for riis's articles and lectures it was him the final product was the words and pictures together. what was needed was the study of photograph to to delynn nature what pictures he took. consisted of creating a research folder and collecting in the folder each version of the image along with photocopies of each published verse of each image. the illustrations in riis's articles dozens of them that appeared in newspaper and national magazines, could be gl eened. it was vitally important fo

we're in one of the signature exhibition spaces called signsers hall. this is depicting the moment of the constitution was signed back on sent 17th, 1787. there are 42 statues represents those still present and participating in the constitutional convention after a long summer working in philadelphia to create this document. you wan walk amongst the signers. you can touch them. we invite you to touch them. they're life-size bronze statues. they are made to be interactive. this is ben franklin. he is one of the most loved. you can also find out that not everybody at the constitutional convention was happy with how things ended up. there were actually 55 men who attended at different points. some of them left because they had other business that theyey needed to attend to. some left out of protest. they weren't really happy how things were going. these three are our descenters. george mason, randolph and gerry. they were still here beyond september 17th about, but they refused to sign the document because they felt it didn't do enough to protect the inter

what is wundserful is this exhibit is repurposing of older exhibits. it was two former bear exhibits that were revenivated and restored. it is spectacular and what you see with the photograph, there is a large 6 foot glass wall that really puts the attendee in the guest of the zoo all most in the exhibit, it is a great experience. it is also one of the most technically advanced exhibits. part of the program with u.s. fish and wild life is there is little to no human interaction so there are electronic feeders and fences that help keep the human element out of the exhibit best as possible. other photos. this is part the exhibit in the center. you can see this is where the wall used to be that separated the two older exhibits so that wall came gown and we added a bump out so it is a 270 degree experience that puts you in the middle of the exhibits. this program of course is what is most important to stress is this ads to the zoos national credibility work wg u.s. fish and wild life. new arrivals for the summer months. adding to the color and flair of the

this is an question that interest me in this exhibition?> let me share with you some of my favorite photographs. this photograph, very small photograph, shows amelia with her first flight instructor, a woman named, netta snook. it's a photograph taken in southern california where amelia earhart was living in 1921. let me step back a second and comment that amelia -- there's a certain rootlessness to her life. that begins as a young child. she was born in atchinson kansas, her father was a railroad clerk. but they had a great deal of difficulty holding a job. with the outbreak of world war i she is moved to volunteer to be a nurse and works in a hospital in toronto tending to the wounded. during the 19 teens her parents separate. they had had a difficult marriage. in 1920, they come back together and relocate the family to southern california. amelia decides to drop out of medical school after a year and to join her parents in southern california. and it's there that amelia gets the first bug to fly. southern california was the center of avi

you can see all of the exhibits in here. it is a rolling exhibit. it is a true opportunity, if you will, for young people to be educated on american politics in the city that history was born. right here, you're looking at john f. kennedy's lincoln from the 1960s era. over here, there is a display of all of the different political buttons that have unfolded through the years. it is a rolling exhibit. just one stop of seven, as we're walking through hall f, where on the bottom floor of the pennsylvania convention center. so that entranceway is near 12th and arch. it is the first of its kind in history, as history is unfolding right before our eyes here this week with the dnc. you can't get lost, as there are dozens of volunteers, outnumbering some of the guests, but there were lines out the front door as we entered today and we'll be talking to. so of those guests who are visiting and getting a little taste of political history, really a big taste of political history and the exhibit, it will cost you $5 for anyone under 18. $15 for adults and it goe
