. >> and booktv is on location at book expo america in new york city. itself every year as the publisher's yearly conference held at the javits center in new york city. we're doing some previous -- previous of books coming out this coming fall. joyousness george gibson is the publisher bloomsbury publishing. tell us all a bit about bloomsbury first. >> bloomsbury as the u.s. arm of a county located in england, bloomsbury publishing. best known probably for publishing harry potter, reaching all the harry potter books. the u.s. operation was started in 1998 and has grown steadily since then. so now what is that? 15 years. we are a general interest publisher, midsize publisher, fiction, nonfiction, a variety of different types of books. >> what are the challenges facing a midsize publisher? >> been between large and small. if you can spot it can be very reactive and personal but if you're large a lot more resources. so we tried to combine every level of resources with a lot of personal touch and try to publish books and a personal way as we can involving a

. >>> booktv on location at book expo america, which is annual publishers trade show held in new york city. and we're talking with the publisher of chicago review press about some of their upcoming titles. cynthia, what do you have coming out this year? >> the "last war lord." he was the afghan war lord who lead the u.s. special forces to topple the taliban. and on horseback and he's a very interesting character. he's been fighting the taliban for thirty years. our author bryan glen williams is a professor at dart mouth. and he lived with him and got to know his family. he had unique access. when the u.s. forces pull out of afghanistan, he's been fighting the taliban for all the years is likely to come back to the forefront and be a major player again. >> he's been an ally of u.s. while we've been in afghanistan. >> that's him there in the center. and he also believes in -- he's a unique character. he believes in the education of women in afghanistan. he's a bit of a -- he has some liberal tendencies. he's very much against the taliban and the extremists. >> what was it like for profe

. >> we are here at book expo america, and i'm holding in my hand a book that essentially doesn't exist. buzz books 2013. this is put together by publishers lunch. what is at? >> it's a big fat sampler. its prepublication excerpts of 40 very interesting highly touted books that are coming out this fall and winter. so it's really meant to be something for readers everywere eradates the expense ofwhat's going on here for trade insiders which is people are coming, they're hearing pitches about new books, taking samples, picking up free copies of new books that are not a devil for regular readers because the books aren't out yet. so we have surveyed the publishers and we've collected answers to a lot of those books that we think of the most interesting. now if one can kind of get the convention experience and see the books people might be walking about months from now when they come out. >> where is at the table right now for people watching? >> it's available in e-book form for everyone who's watching the show. it's a failed on every major platform. what every e-book store you like to read

special book tv program and continues with an author interviewed ishmael beah at the recent book expo americaand new york city. this is 15 minutes. >> ishmael beah, author of a long way gone. your second book is coming out. what did you choose to make it a novel? >> well, first of all, wanted to deport a little bit from the more. secondly, the issue and i am writing about in the new book is about a lot of people. my experience going back home after the war and other people's experience. the composite. no one to be able to have the freedom to play around with words and images more. that's why it's fictionalized. >> what kind of freedom is writing a novel give you rather than nonfiction? >> well, there is room to play with language more. and to actually extend, expand a little bit more, dramatize a little bit more. also tying things and not necessarily related in a way that's when everyone to do with this novel. brown talking about things that existed before the war, and after the war they existed again china put them together. >> what is in theory? >> it's actually looked at in a fictional way
