couple names you might want to be looking to pick up in october are energy plays, energy transfer, exxon, just walk us through what you think we might expect in that in the next few weeks time >> so this is a trade, right israel gets attacked and for the first time they don't really -- we haven't been very helpful to them, okay, without getting super political. the administration pretty standoffish. it wouldn't surprise me for israel to strike back without our permission or talking to us, and now they're going to hit them hard. they have 193 missiles hit them. no reason for them after what they've been doing to hezbollah to not only going after leadership and these oil refineries i think the administration is going to try to tell them delay until after the election before that happens, but that's what i'm looking for. when something like that happens, it's either going to be in october or after the election, i do think it's coming either in a big way where it affects about 1.5 million barrels a day or 300 to 500,000 on smaller refineries and that's a good pop for oil and good case for mo

tonight after the bell, followed by mcdonald's tomorrow, caterpillar on thursday, and chevron and exxoniday. joining us now cfra research director, ken leon. great to see you. ththank you for being here. how would assess the third quarter earnings season so far. what are you expecting from this week's big tech numbers? >> good morning, maria. we're looking good. for third quarter earnings and this is the biggest week, we're looking at 4 to 5% year over year growth. the story really is how this accelerates. we're looking at 10 to 11% growth on earnings in the fourth quarter and then next year the consensus is looking at 12 to 14%. that is the picture of a very healthy economy. we're also seeing -- so this week as you know, we've got the mag seven, most of them reporting probably strong results but we have breath. we have breath of the market and earnings outlook for next year for mid caps and small caps, this 16 to 20%. very good picture for earnings. of course, the drivers for this market is the election, the fed, and earnings. i can say here, earnings look good. maria: so earnings are

will hear from ford motor tonight followed by mcdonald's, caterpillar on wednesday and chevron and exxonil on friday. i want to get your take on big tech, the names have had huge moves in the stock prices and now judgment day we will hear from the executive team about what's ahead as well as get the numbers on the third quarter. your reaction. >> nothing scary this week, that's a funny thing, the tech numbers and earnings are expected judgment day in the last three quarters and it has not come. he continues to be judged in a positive light. i think the market is county not in and if you look at the data coming out this week, jobs, gdp and things like that. the job numbers in the gdp numbers are soft enough to where i think they can motivate the fed to keep on track and i think it is a mistake in september but the market wants the fed to keep cutting rates no matter what it seems like the data is in i think the get another cut one word this year end that's motivating markets to keep going up on the equity side while interest rates go up on the open market side if you like a ten year rate
