faa has a formula for how safe is an airplane. how safe is a person on the ground from an overflight airplane. we have the same thing in the space industry. as part of a georgia team did for the first decade is put all this together. those are the rules that we live under and were scrupulously follow them and we're licensed by the faa so in her particular monitored continually. but if you take two steps back and ask yourself what about the activities we are talking about it's finding a suborbital spacecraft are the space station are going to mind materials on the move from you have to remind yourself what you're talking about. live in a society where people choose to ride motorcycles. it's not really safe. they also choose to climb very high mountains. it's totally not safe. it doesn't make any sense to me, but they jump out of perfectly good airplanes. that is not safe. the question is we have been developing rules and not so we've used in the united states and i think that is what is likely to be replicated on other spacefaring

as the chairman said, we want to get tsa attached to the faa bill. and the tsa modernization act this committee passed last october focused on improving security at airports by authorizing an increase in the law enforcement officer reimbursement program, expanding the use of explosive detection canine teams which every tsa officer that i talk to says that's the most effective. and expediting the deployment of security screening equipment. we hope that this bill will help the tsa grow its pre-check program, which has been successful but continues to struggle with enrollment. i look forward to your updates. also hope that we can shine some light on tsa's quiet skies program which has been in the news recently, along with senator mccaskill. we sent you a letter last week asking you for clarification of this program. it's important for us to know the program's details. and i believe it's imperative that we have a discussion on the ways that tsa is responding to the emerging threat as you and i, admiral, discussed, of 3-d printed guns. as we have had that
