it is important in knowing where faa is now, and where faa standard should go in the future, in terms of nextgen. so i'd like for us to discuss today in part, what's faa is in relation to the recommendation of the department of transportation inspector general report. the report identified shortcomings in measurement, outcomes. and outlined the nextgen benefits, to be about 100 billion dollars, less than the 2007 estimate. while our testament shows less benefit, it is estimated that 100 billion dollars of that will so far exceed the total projection costs. and that stands for 2030, which is 36 billion dollars. when it comes to benefits of the ig report, it was also found that faa has not transparently extended the benefits to date. and so stakeholders do not have a clear view in how investments will translate into modernization. we have also encountered delays an implementation on things like the performance based navigation procedures, or pianos we call them. the final report issued three recommendations. we have already begun implementing. one on metrics, performance, developing a p
