i'm joined by kathleen stall, the deputy executive director for family u.s.a. and the national organization. dedicated to providing affordable health care. they both supported the law. and the vice president of legal affairs for the catoe institute. they are opposed to the idea here of universal health care. the bottom line, we'll start with kathleen, is this good or bad for america? what will the impact be on our can economy? >> they really came down on this side of the consumers, not on the side of the insurance companies. for the first time, the consumers with the pre-existing conditions, they will lose a job, perhaps in this recession and they will be able to have a guarantee of the quality affordable insurance coverage. and they will now give those people and their families, the peace of mind, they will give them a sense of security that they will not be bankrupt, because they cannot afford insurance to pay the health care bills, roger? >> this came down on the side of the consumers here in the immediate context. it's just a matter of time before the cross

. >> suarez: for that we turn to ron pollack, founding executive director of families u.s.a.-- a nationalanization that advocates for affordable health care in the country. karen ignagni, president of america's health insurance plans, a lobbying group that works on behalf of the health insurance industry. dr. donald palmisano, who is both a physician and an attorney. he is founder of intrepid and bill mccollum, a former congressman who, when he was florida's attorney general, sued the obama administration over the health care law. guests, i'd like to start with a quick distilled thumbnail description of your reaction to this big ruling and complex set of opinions. ron pollack? >> i think this is a hallelujah impeachment for america's families. it l provide them with peace of mind that they will have health coverage and care when they need it and the various ways that susan and others describe, it will make sure that people no longer are denied health care coverage that they so desperately need. >> suarez: dr. palmisano? >> my reaction was one of sadness. it's not going to increase access,

and according to families u.s.a., 97,000 rhode islanders will have access to tax credits to make their coverage more affordable. a thousand more child adults will gain coverage through the medicaid program. now that the court has spoken, i hope we can work on a bipartisan basis to do what we must do and that's to create jobs and improve our economy. this health care decision was a landmark decision but the work now, the work of all of us should be to reinvigorate our economy so that not only can people have the confidence that they'll have health care, but they can have the further and, indeed, very primary confidence that they will have meaningful work. in that respect, i'm glad that congress

i'm the executive director of families, u.s.a., the national organization for health care consumers. today is a holiday, and for america's families. a mean -- a hello lee a moment. tens of millions of people are going to get help so that insurance is affordable. it means insurance companies can no longer deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions, like children with asthma and diabetes. it means insurance companies can no longer set an artificial cap i and what they're willing to pay out when somebody has a catastrophic illness or an accident. it means that women will no longer be discriminated against and have to pay higher premiums. it means that small businesses will get tax credits so they can afford to provide health coverage for their workers. and bottom line, tens of millions of people will get health coverage for the first time. this is an extraordinary moment and the effort to defeat the affordable care act has been stopped in its tracks. now we get on with the task of implementing health reform in every state all across the country. this is truly a moment for ameri
