let me group together the jack smith/january 6 indictment and fani willis, rico indictment in georgia. fundamentally, i think there is a real problem with these indictments in that they are attempting to criminalize statements made, positions taken, advocacy that, for the most part, are protected by the first amendment. protected both as expressions of speech, free speech, but also efforts to petition the government for redress of grievances which is also protected as a core right in the first amendment. the trump campaign was endeavoring to urge state legislators and officials to take another look at the campaign results, the election results in their state. and you might think the legal advice given was not well considered, you might think that there was no significant hope of getting relief, but that is not to say that the president and his campaign did not have a right to raise these issues and urge legislators and state officials tack in response to these grievances. if you look at the jack smith complaint january 6, i don't know about you but i was waiting to see -- first of all
