colleagues i am submitting this for [inaudible] youth fare evasion on the muni systems and replace the more punitive treatment of youth and fare evasion with a adjudicating system like five years ago thanks to senator carol [inaudible] that changed the state law that allows for adults to be handled administratively. the new legislation will allow for less burden on the already strained court system, fewer constricts with law enforcement -- conflicts with the law enforcement and other fractions including disturbances or eating on transit are also decriminalizeed in this legislation. also the mta is currently working with our office and others to change the resolution the state government to decriminalize these infractions and following the amazing grass roots campaign by supervisor campos and power and youth organizations to bring free muni for youth and low income and moderate income youth to san francisco the current laws completely -- current laws of fare evasion is out of step with the laws currently in san francisco. it doesn't mean that people that break the rule will get a pass.
