supervisor farrell? commissioner farrell: just so we're having our hearing right now, given the amendments for next week, maybe tell me what we plan to do today in terms of voting or not going or going forward here. commissioner kim: at this time i'd be looking for a motion to move this forward to the board of supervisors as a committee report. commissioner farrell: let me just -- this is an issue i've struggled with and i appreciate everyone coming to my office and talking with people on the phone. i understand the commitment from the members of the board of education. i have no doubt you spend way more time than people ever would imagine in your job. at the end of the day, though, i think there are a few things where i still can't get there. first of all, the fact that we are going to be putting resources towards this and i think i just received something from the controller that it would be over $227,000 a year. that, to me, i struggle with in these times. and that we're adding to our budget right now

supervisors elsbernd and farrell. it is a pleasure to be here. i'm sorry. patricia card farrell.plying for seat number two. i believe my current experiences with and the san francisco shelter system would greatly enhance the efforts of the shelter monitoring committee. the city of san francisco is constantly attempting to raise the level of operation and care of the homeless population. as a disabled client and a resident in the shelter system, i continue to gain valuable insight and understanding the needs and challenges in providing ongoing support service to our nation's homeless population. i have a client in the disability system of the city since my return to the bay area in february of 2010. before this time, i have been afforded the benefit of experience in homelessness and shelter placement in 25 shelters and at least 25 different states beginning with my displacement home in atlanta georgia in 2007. this experience has afforded me the benefit of personally witnessing the day-to-day operation of many of our best and worst shelter operations. take away these experiences,

i will have it out with supervisor farrel when i meet him. i think people should be there to support their legislation, just as we saw with the president being here. i also think there is probably a really good reason for it. separately, a supervisor farrel probably thought this was taking care of, and there was an emergency that took place, and sometimes you can look up to the heavens and wonder why things are going against you, so i think there is a reason for it, but i think that is a good point. it has, previously. i do not know if it was for the same reasons or not, but it did seem that there is just a disregard for the small business commission, and i certainly have sympathy for that feeling, and we will certainly make that known drug the corridors when i am talking to the supervisors. so that said, do we have a motion to support this legislation? commissioner: i do not think i can do this. commissioner: i will make a motion. commissioner: second.

supervisor farrell: thank you to everyone for coming today, in particular the appellant, mr. butler, the project sponsor, and the planning department. thank you for all your hard work on this project. i have to say i have been impressed by the enthusiasm on both sides of this issue. colleagues, given that 1269 lombard street is in district two, i have spent a good deal of time reviewing the project, meeting with the planning department and project sponsor, to understand all the issues. what we have before us is a request to overturn the planning department ruling on the cadx. at this point, the project has been in front of the planning commission, the historic preservation commission, the board of appeals, and now the board of supervisors. these bodies have approved the permits and variances. for me, the historic planning commission having unanimously approved or stated this is not a historic resource -- ultimately, i have not found sufficient reason to overturn their findings, and specifically overturn the cadx. this project will ultimately have some detractors. i appreciate
