the victims, an older couple found murdered in their fauquier county home.arnard is live with the latest. bob. >> reporter: shawn, the suspect is believed to be in this part of fredericksburg, outing of -- south of historic downtown and he's wanted for questioning in a double murder about 50 miles northwest of here in northern virginia's horse and wine country. this is the crying -- crime scene, a rural property off of bunker hill road in the plains, virginia. the longtime home of a virginia couple found murdered sunday afternoon. and fauquier county sheriff's officials telling us nelson slack, who was 80, and his wife ethel, 74, suffered trauma to their upper bodies. >> well, i have been knowing them for 40 years and they good people, all i can say about it. >> what do you make of what happened here? >> i can't believe it. >> reporter: it doesn't take investigators long to name a person of interest in the case. he's john wesley jeffries, a 59- year-old registered sex offender in virginia who investigators consider armed and dangerous. >> he was raised about

this morning, police are looking for a person of interest in the murders of an elderly couple in fauquier county, virginia. they want to question john jeffries as they investigate the murders of nelson and ethel slack. the couple was found dead in their home in the plains on sunday. police had suspect jeffries was involved in a home invasion in fredericksburg. the 67-year-old homeowner fought back hitting the intruder over the head with his oxygen tank. >>> today, you can weigh in on whether those signs along roadways in fairfax county should become history. there's a proposal to remove signs from median strips and intersections. it's illegal to put signs along roads that vdot owns. but they don't have the manpower to remove the signs. the hearing begins at 4:00 p.m. in the board auditorium at the county government center. >> montgomery county school board asking for more money as the enrollment grows. they're asking to approve a $2.23 billion budget for fiscal year 2014. that's a 2.5% increase over this year. the board says most of that increase simply allows them to serve about 2300 mor
