i know there's the need to re-up on theto spectrum licenses with the fcc and there's also a necessary congressional reauthorization process that's going to be happening in the next two years. what's that going to look like and what your expectation? >> guest: to recap, renewal and reauthorization are two aspects we are very focused on. our spectrum of band 14 spectrum needs be rely so next year and the gao is underway developing a report by congress in which they will advise con ed's one where another to either reauthorize or program but that has to be completed by 2027. again to .2 million users, 16,000 agencies, 2.2 2.2 min connections, on the firstnet system. that many people can't be wrong. we have seen a terrific example of why firstnet is needed. you have to use different example, we can point in florida at the school district down there, their folks told us they're leveraging firstnet on school buses. it would help prevent to mexico shootings. you've got stories in every single state like that. when you talk about wanting to reauthorize our spectrum we've had good conversation

there are cases going on in europe and around the world and we have got our cases at the doj, the fccnd the state attorney general. what do you think is most likely outcome of those cases, especially regarding google, since that is where you have the most experience? and could a company like google with a little bit of antitrust regulation, or some conditions put on them, as proposed by a court, or is this totally untenable if there is any result that results in google having to act differently? adam: most of them are already living under some kind of legislation or consent decree, and in some cases, antitrust. with enforcers to bring the big tech companies. i am not sure that cases are going to succeed, because i think one of the things that some of it is based on is really a complaint by one actor about the marketplace. in the realm of antitrust, a lot of the big antitrust debates in tech right now are really about marketplaces. so tech has a lot of what is called the recited marketplaces . you have the consumer who they are selling to, and they are trying to please, and then you ha

chairman, tell us about what the fcc is doing to ensure -- doesn't mean that retail investors are subject to unfair trades. >> i asked the staff to take a close look at this in the context of the overall market structure. payment, which some brokers use and some don't is in essence a payment to the broker for that order flow. and it can be in conflict with the interest of that customer. that inherent conflict, we found in a case that was settled in december, where there was action communication between the wholesaler and the broker saying i could give the customer more or you more, there's a trade-off between them. we need to take a closer look at that, but also in the context of the overall equity market structure. there's also payment for order flow on exchanges, so there's other pieces of this puzzle. >> do you believe that cooperation among retail investors in chat rooms for example could be leading to undesirable collusion in the equity market? >> we should always be vigorously enforcing our laws and ensuring others not fraud. if somebody is trying to defraud another person, mislead

i have been sitting on the fec -- the fcc broadband board for five years. the first is education.e have to make sure everyone has equal footing terms of how to access not only -- footing in terms of how to access not only high-speed internet, so i am a big proponent of putting more infrastructure into schools, particularly in urban areas that don't have the same equality, and we level the playing field from an education perspective. also in our tertiary markets in rural america, where our farmers are competing, we have to bring fiber to the farm. we have to make sure our farmers are competitive and part of that is giving them a digital edge, using iot and machine learning to make farmers more competitive and increase output. there's a lot of things our government can do to bring us forward -- education and leveling the playing field is my primary objective. kailey: and at the cost of doing so with higher taxes, do you support that? marc: we have to pay our fair share. i don't have a problem paying more taxes. but from a broadband perspective, public-private partnerships have worke

if we need to make sure the united states government through its regulators, the fcc and members of congresse here and start saying what we need to do to be safe and we need to make sure there is access to low earth orbit for a lot of different companies. we have to make sure there is competition. i've always said the only thing worse than a government monopoly is a private monopoly the government is beholden to. we have to prevent that from happening for anybody, we need competition in the marketplace, there's a lot of opportunity here for a lot of different companies to provide internet broadband from space and i think that's going to be good, not just for the nine states of america but lifting people out of poverty, providing education, all around the world. mobile banking, telemedicine, 50% of the world isn't connected right now. when we start connecting people it's going to be transformational in a positive way and i'm excited about it. we have to do the right thing from a government perspective. >> kristin: who do you think is winning that war right now? spacex or blue origin? >> space
