peter fenton is a brilliant venture capitalist. not yet 40, a general partner at benchmark capital. that is a leading venture capital firm in silicon valley. he is self effacing and a practicing catholic -- triathlete. his wife is a graduate of harvard and yale law school. the architect is one of the leading builders of a great city. these are the best and the brightest, a credit to our society. i am at a loss by their attitude in this project. this is no david and goliath struggle. it is goliath versus goliath. i own commercial property in the city and have developed property in the city. i own sterling break -- sterling bank and trust. we have 14 branches in our community. we frequently have to deal with securing permits and working with community groups. our commercial and residential loan portfolio in san francisco is $500 million. we consider ourselves the largest community bank in the city. as a matter of principle, i favor growth and development. within the last five years, both houses on either side of us, including the fenton house, were substantially expanded. we gave them

she could see the fire from fenton.as pretty major and we were obviously carrying a baby, like an infant. so we had to cover -- there were embers like this big coming off -- you know, just try -- >> dropping on you guys. >> yeah, just drooping on everything -- dropping on everything. >> reporter: gap, we've talked to -- again we've already talked to investigators who are talking to people who saw the fire as they try to figure out what is behind this. as far as the damage, you have the damage to the town homes that are under construction. those are a total loss. there are about six of them. maybe more. they were only in the framing stage. if you come out here live you can see the burned out area. then you have three buildings right on the either side of them. those did have people in them. those had 75 to 100 people living in them and they are still evacuated. you look at the windows. you can see some fire damage. we have smoke damage in others. but the real problem for the people facing the most damage are the people w
