what should she remember about you and geraldine ferraro?ldine ferraro and i, in our respective parties, we were able to kind of bust down some doors and show some american voters who perhaps were hesitant to believe that women are capable of doing a whole lot of things all at once, you know. i had just had a baby and my oldest son was enlisted in the army. he was headed off to his first deployment. i had a teenage daughter who was pregnant, in case you didn't notice that one on the front page of "the national enquirer." i had a lot of family things going on and in addition to that, though, being able to serve the great state of alaska as governor, and geraldine ferraro too in her run being able to do so much in her personal life and in her political and professional life. i think we were able to show some voters again who maybe are neanderthalish in not believing women aren't capable of doing a whole lot at once. we were able to prove that. >> governor palin, obviously you and senator harris are on the opposite sides of the political aisle.

this is what she had to say when comparing it to geraldine ferraro or sarah palin. think in both those cases, putting a woman on the ticket felt like a hail mary. which i don't get the sense that it has that same field this time around. what are your thoughts on that? guest: i agree with that entirely. he1984 walter mondale knew was going to lose the election. a very, he lost by regrettable margin for democrats. putting geraldine ferraro on the ticket was a way to signal that he stood for change. it wasn't enough. sarah palin, this was a situation where john mccain and the people who worked on john mccain's campaign acknowledged, he didn't know what they were getting with palin, but they were willing to take a shot because they knew they were facing a very uphill. this time around, that is not the case. if you look at the media coverage, if you look at the responses to kamala harris being named vice president, there is no discussion of this being a hail mary pass. this has just been seen as a strong woman put on the ticket because it makes the ticket stronger. cindy
