[laughter] new book about fillmore are high school was named for fillmore but really? [laughter] in 70 years and the pulitzer prize history never once has been about given an award for congressional history. we have seen boast about presidents and slavery and labor which is my field but even a book that won a pulitzer prize for the history of the cigarette but nothing on congress. so that helps describe the difficulty of writing about this institution. so why did i bother doing it? [laughter] first of all i felt my combination of academic training in decades of working congress gave specific insights and my friendship gave the opportunity to sit down to gather their thoughts and stories and recollect -- recollection that frankly another author may not have that opportunity. but there was a necessity the way this class has been written about. a political scientist and a great pundit said this is the most consequential class of the 20th century. now i want to be very clear this is not analyzed to the class of 74. it looks at their record and what they accomplished and hi
