safeway shuttered its webster street supermarket in san francisco's fillmore district last month, and recently announced it's also closing its pinole store. in april, vallejo city manager says the announced vallejo closure is disappointing, but says we are hopeful for new opportunities at the site and will keep the community posted on what businesses may take over the space. it's really a shame that it's going to be closing down. hopefully we get something better or somebody buys it for another reason. that's a supermarket. i mean, it'll be great for us in the community. safeway says the store's employees will move to another location, and while there are no plans to close additional bay area locations, safeway says they continually assess operations
