mantle and the brick. >> the brick, his mother had this fireplace built in here in the 1970s.he had the workers going to get the foundation of the original homestead, which is on the other side of the street. clean them all up and bring them in here and build the fireplace. >> these bricks go way back. >> the house was built in the 1870s, but the homestead was longer than that. you can still kind of see the wagon rust that goes down the center of it. the whole thing is put together with square nails. the whole house is built with square nails. this has the history of this house, that house, and the whole family. >> how emotional would it be if you had to leave? >> i wouldn't be pretty. that's what worries us so much. if this house was across the road where my land is, if it was damaged by oil that came from an easement i owned, then they would have to remediate it. but this land immediately over here would be my nephew's basement. they would to clean up the oil, but nothing says they have to fix my house. >> it's a real personal risk. >> to recover that, you have to sue them.
