earlier today we heard him lay out his first 100 days in office and for many of us that's the first timee heard pin-point plans as to exactly what he wants to do once he gets in the white house. tell me your feedback. what did you think of his 100 day plan? >> it's very similar in some respects to the contract with america which worked so well for republicans in 1994 against bill clinton's administration. the problem is we're 16, 17 days away from the election. it's a little late to start doing this. the contract with america started about six, seven weeks before the election. i think there are a lot of popular elements in there, term limits, lobbying restrictions, things that would make it very difficult for meshmbers of congress to go through the revolving door and benefiting from their contacts in congress. it's late in the day. trump is on message today but there's been days earlier when he had not been. >> let's talk about today. today he did outline a very aggressive and positive agenda for the first 100 days. and within that first 100 days, he fulfills several of the promises that

and he's the first african american from congress. and what you begin to see in that decade from the 1930s into the 1940s and you see it very clearly in this chicago district is that there's a shift in african american allegiance away from the republican party. the party of lincoln and the party of reconstruction to the democratic party for the new deal and it has to do with the fact that african americans are recruited by democratic city leaders and there's the promise of greater political participation which is that promise that pulled african americans out of the south during the great my fwrags to begin with. and they have a slightly greater voice in that new deal coalition that franklin roosevelt puts together and they begin to be drawn toward the democratic party. and he down plays the fact that he's an african american in congress. he doesn't want to push black issues per se as he told the press on numerous occasions. he served for a couple of terms and he is replaced by another member named william dawson that's one of the lon
