as part of c-span's bus to work, historically black colleges and universities fisk presidents joined us from nashville. washington journal is live every day. now, a conversation from today's washington journal. host: we are here to talk about how communities are viewing law enforcement. the president, in early march the task force on 21st century policing will deliver the report to the president. they are putting this group together to think of ways to better communities and policing. how challenging do you think that will be, based on polls? guest: extraordinarily challenging, given the difference between blacks and whites's views on the police. what i decided to do with my colleagues is look at polls from all the major pollsters to see how views on the police have changed over time. host: what have you found? top institutions in terms of trust, a great deal, a lot of confidence in police. police get 53% compared to other institutes. guest: that is a good rating. it hasn't changed much over time. when we look beneath the numbers, we see that views of whites and blacks are different
