look at these numbers yesterday afternoon. 70 degrees bedford, beverly, norwood, fitchburg, the city of boston at 69 degrees. crushing the old record of 61. this morning 55 degrees starting off this christmas morning. merry christmas, everyone. we're about 15 degrees above the average high temperature for the date this early in the morning. 52 in worcester. 38 in fitchburg. some issues out there with visibility with locally dense fog. we've certainly seen that outside the city of boston from beverly to bedford over to norwood and down into the cape we do have a dense fog advisory until 9:00 a.m. essentially that sliver between route 128 and 495 then down through southeastern mass, a dense fog advisory until 9:00 a.m. bigger picture, no rain, though, so once we shake off some of this fog, i do expect partial sunshine throughout the day and overall a dry day. not quite as warm as yesterday, but 60 degrees on christmas day with dry conditions. we'll take it. you don't have to shovel 60-degree readings. next week we may have to shovel some snow, ice and rain that arrives on tuesday. befo

fitchburg 24 . holden is at 31 but north borough at 28 as well. southeast south central vermont into northwestern 21 and 22 right along the the connecticut river. those valley locations tend to hold the cold air that's why when we're talking about potential for some freezing rain that was a place that i highlighted as that month 10 with the breaks in the clouds temperatures have been dropping. there are more clouds to our southwest though there's some rain in here, too that's creeping up into northern jersey and around new york city. in fact when i switch over to live doppler radar it's happening in the new york city radar. you can clearly see some of the rainshowers coming that's all pushing towards southern new england tonight. it's trying to get here when it's still too cold. that's why originally the connecticut river valley again the valleys holding the cold air have that freezing rain advisory when i talk to you at 10:45. by 11:00 the national weather service in albany which has jurisdiction over berkshire county added that to make everythin

fitchburg at 30. this is the problem for the morning commute, not wet roads or ice or anything like that, there's still some wind left over from yesterday. it was yesterday afternoon. winds yesterday gusting 30, 40mph. that's not happening this morning. and certainly as we work into this afternoon, as high pressure gets closer to us, that will shut down the wind even more. so a lot of sun. not as windy, and temps will be seasonal. our normal high is about 45. this afternoon 47. norwood at 45. i think when you're out and about this afternoon, it will feel better than yesterday because yesterday the numbers were like these numbers here you see on the screen, in the 40s, but with much less wind out there. this time of year if you can go through a day in december without wind, you're doing all right. provincetown this afternoon 47. nantucket at 48. tonight mostly clear, chilly. 31 to 36. and your weekend forecast, lots of sunshine, both tomorrow and on sunday with temperatures in the low to mid-50s. even

so that's helping that fog to develop. 42 degrees currently in fitchburg. temperatures will kind of hold steady generally in the low to mid 40's there through most of the rest of the night. meanwhile, boston looking at a current temperature of 54 degrees and we have a breeze out of the west-southwest at 9 miles per hour and it's that wind preventing any fog and temperaturewise in boston, probably won't even get below 50 degrees until after midnight. so a mild night on tap and should be enough of a wind to prevent the widespread fog that we had out there last night. just a couple of spots with lighter wind could see some of that fog. this front will impact us later on in the weekend and that could impact our shot at hitting the record. record highs for tomorrow are out of reach. record numbers for sunday are a but that's when the front will be on top of us, bringing some slightly cooler weather. hartford will still on the warm side of the front. there's that front, notice the cooler weather, kind of basically from the boston area, north sunday afternoon, so
