it happened on flatbush avenue. eyewitness news reporter, josh has more on the search to find the driver. >> cops believe it's a victim in this lot and tried to cross flat bush avenue to get to the kings plaza mall, but they them for dead. tonight, crash investigators from the nypd poured over every inch of this street. >> earlier, a hit-and-run driver plowed into a man and woman with two sickening thuds. >> pretty loud. a big thud. that made me turn around. i jumped. >> oh my god, people lay in the street. they got hit by a car. we ran outside to see what was going on. >> the 50-year-old woman and 47- year-old man had been trying busy flatbush avenue. they were running against the light and not in a crosswalk. when a gray van with a red stripe barreled into them with such force, it left its side mirror behind as it kept on going. and this picture, you can see first responders tending to both victims. the woman was critically hurt. >> the lady was sprawled out, blood gushing all over the place. >> i am going to see

but what i am saying is coming up in brooklyn, in east flatbush, i was around a lot of ethnicities.i grew up around the hasidic jews, all black with the curls, i saw italian communities, in i knew what, i saw that irish community in garison park. i saw the west indian community, and i grew up in the regular jewish community before it-- my makeup growing up in east flatbush had a lot of energies. i wear a lot of different things in my makeup and dna that i saw growing up. one of the main things i saw growing up was respect for one's culture. people, even in my community with all the westerns and caribbean, that is what most of them, everybody said their culture, that i their island was better than the other it was ignorant but it was cultural pride that was at the core of a lot of the violence that happened in my community. and i look at this situation, what is happening right now, and what the night of is dealing with, when i say it is a class thing, the reason why you know, i'm not comparing nothing to nothing. all i'm saying is, i see the way the hasidic community, they stick toge
