ktvu's brian flores is at the scene. can tell us why this could have been a lot worse. >> reporter: well, you are exactly right, dave. good morning to you. we're on the 6100 block of alameda debe a blow boulevard. as you -- diablo boulevard. as you can see, a lot of damage to what is described as a caretaker's home. it's a separate home from the main house. a lot of dark especially ong the second floors. some damage to the garage as well. but the good news, firefighters say no injuries. let's go to video shot from a ktvu viewer. you can see flames just shooting up pretty high, pretty intense there as well. this was a single-alarm fire that started just before 5:00, roughly around 4:45. fire officials say it's still unclear what caused it. it appears that this guesthouse is at a complete loss at this point. crews with san ramon fire protection district responded here. it took about an hour to completely douse this fire but they spent most of the morning putting out hotspots. >> a lot of smoke. we had to -- to run. we didn

brian flores is live in oakland where police new say they've caught the suspect. good morning, brian. >> reporter: good morning, tori. a lot of twists and turns in this case if you will on what's been going on since this amber alert was issued. but yes, police say they do have the suspect, if you will, 56-year-old kim tolefree at least in for questioning at their point. but they also say that the amber alert still remains in effect. we thought it would be a good idea to go over -- to go over the information again just in case there's other details. but the amber alert was issued around 4:30. police were looking for what was a gray chevy truck. it had the california license plate of 7n79574. again, that was 7n79574 now, initially, police told us they were looking for kim tolefree as well as a 1-year- old child, a girl. her name was -- her name is isaza tolefree. she was described as last wearing a pink shirt with blue bears holding anage and yellow blanket and kim tolefree was last seen wearing a plaid and beige coat, acid washed jeans. we're told the suspect was a

i'm brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> 7:04.he fbi is helping oakland police this morning in a major homicide investigation. it follows a marathon standoff that ended just hours ago early this morning. just a short time ago, tara moriarty received new information. she's back now with a live report from police headquarters. tara? >> reporter: well, police zeroed in on this particular home in east oakland because they believe a homicide suspect was there. when they arrived, there were more than a dozen people. police held them for questioning. we know that at least two arrests were made. the intense search lasted throughout the night. the fbi and the bomb squad helped surround the house on 88th avenue in between international boulevard and another street at 4:00 in the afternoon. officers were serving a search warrant on gangs for retal tari homicides -- retal tari homicides. the -- retaliatory homicides. items were removed from the home. we don't know if they were weapons. police are remaining very tight- lipped about this invest
