according to the report released by the florida state prosecutor today, the three recording devices used by the massachusetts state police at various times during the interview, those recording devices captured the majority of what happened that night, captured the majority of the interview and the confession by ibragim todashev but none of those recording devices managed to capture what happened moments later which is when they shot him. that is just one of the reviews of this incident released today. in very quick succession. we also got the u.s. department of justice report on the shooting. which also notes "while there are audio and video recordings of the interview of todashev earlier that evening, there are no recordings of the shooting, itself." this is a state level prosecutor in florida. unlike the 2002 case of joseph schultz and his girlfriend, there were no witnesses outside of the fbi agents and massachusetts state trooper who is were in the room where he was interviewing him when he was killed. they came that he was going to confess to a triple murder. we haven't seen any written confession, we haven't seen any recording of the interview, we haven't heard or seen any reliable account other than from anonymous sources who always seem to say that the agents did nothing wrong. so the florida report is going to be hugely important here. it may be the only independent information we get on this. we have been waiting for that report since august. late last month it was announced that the investigation results would be completed by the end of this month. it was believed to be tuesday would be the big day, next tuesday. then today, oh, law enforcement leak. another big leak in the story and wouldn't you know it, a big self-exculpatory leak. law enforcement officials unname

yesterday state attorney angela cory e-mailed a document to florida lawmakers dealing information in her prosecution. the document entitled state versus marissa alexander is a step by step to the case as she sees it. detailing when the prosecutor says happened the night alexander fired what she says was a warning shot at her then husband, rico gray, and his would children during a domestic dispute. where she said he threatened to kill her. there's also a previously unpublicized information, including the words the prosecutor says alexander spoke to gray before the shooting, quote, i have something for your expleti expletive. at least one of the lawmakers that received that document told the local jacksonville station that she believes the document is inappropriate. alexander, you will recall, jacksonville, florida, mother of three who pace as possible 60-year prison sentence when she is retried in july. alexander is seeking a stand-your-ground hearing before her retrial. earlier i asked corey if it is related to the warning shot bill. lawmakers supporting the bill have cited the maris

but florida state prosecutor angela cory is continuing to pursue what many feel are excessive charges a nonviolent offense. cory is now seeking to triple alexander's sentence from 20 years to 60. 60 years for firing a shot into the wall in defense against her abusive husband. it's a scenario that we know ends far too many times with the woman as the dead victim. and yet, as my colleague reported this week, the reason cory has given for the additional time is she believes alexander was angry, not fearful, which he fired that shot. well, joining me now to discuss the case, msnbc.com erin carmone and sirius-xm host joe madison. thanks for joining me. >> thank you. >> thank you. >> i want to talk about the specifics of marissa alexander's case in a moment. i want to put this in a broader context. you talk about in your piece in general how much harder it is for women to convince a jury that she was justified when she invoked stand your ground. talk about that. >> well, in any kind of self-defense scenario, you have to say you have a reasonable belief you were under threat. in a domestic v
