we are here to announce the 10- year lease for river bed at 680 folsom st.. 167,000 square foot leaseave the mayor, ceo of river bed, the owner of the building, as well as david from jll to talk of the significance of this to the city. >> thank you, good morning. welcome to the super bowl of innovation. while we did not enjoy the other super bowl, we have been working on hours. i have always referred to san francisco -- and we continue to do this -- as the innovation capital of the world. riverbed's decision to sign a 10-year lease and to work with the city to renovate a building here in south market, to make sure they are staying and growing here is a reflection of not only their interest in making sure they continue to find talent that exists in the city, but that the city, working with our state interests as well as our i.t. companies, continue to do everything we can to make sure they feel comfortable and are creating jobs. every time you hear about a major company like river bed making a decision like this that is very significant, this is their headquarters, but it is their glob

we know that folsom st., pride, a chinese new year, contribute as well. we been able to get all of that data in this number, we would definitely be higher. i also just want to emphasize that in looking at night life of venues, restaurants, bars, clubs, live performance venues, these are almost all businesses that are small. small businesses that struggle, just like every other small business struggles in terms of meeting a payroll and complying but city permitting and other requirements. they do provide health care in many cases. they contribute to the community. i know that the number of representatives in the castro, the key role that is played by night live venues, and members of the community working with the community can move the neighborhood forward. that said, i am going to invite -- first, colleagues, are there any introductory remarks? >> i really appreciate -- supervisor chiu: i really appreciate the leadership on supporting the different small- business is that are a part of the late night entertainment, but also the various festivals we have

off the top of my head, folsom st. events have contributed over $300,000 each year to the breast cancer emergency fund, the stop aids project -- the list goes on. since the grant program started in 1997, they have contributed over $2 million. they hold a private party every year. this benefits the lgbt center in the district of supervisor wiener. so, in addition to the jobs created by the folks that actually work in these bars, the fund rate that we -- the fund raising that we do really impacts what the other folks do in this community. this past saturday the beneficiary of our photo booth was a middle school, who had their art supply budget cut. we raised $1,000 so that the kids can have their art supplies returned to them. as you are all moving forward, i want to reach out to the nonprofits in your district. if night life had not been active, we are here to be a part of the community and to be neighbors as much as individual residents. please continue to think of us in that capacity as well. thank you. supervisor wie

st. which is at 16th and folsom. vice-chair lam: the time is up. thank you. the speaker. >> i do want to thank you, you have done a marvelous job. i'm here to talk about one specific census block. since bought 3001 to confirm it has no population so it is possible. i want to spend my time is telling you the story of the neighborhood and how hard we of worked. i am in that area. i was starting to speak with uc- berkeley a couple of years ago tried to convince someone it would be a good idea to take walls that were tagged in part on them. after getting a letter signed and -- uc-berkeley said ok. we started painting in 2010 and we continue to this day. over 30 artists have worked free. it is a community driven projects. the time, talent and energy of the artists who have grown up in the lower heat. and in many cases grown famous. 55 laguna is on haight street. it is the main artery for the lower and upper hate. the majority who have been fighting for the community have been from district 5. vice-chair lam: i am sorry. >> the task force is splitting the main thor
