alameda county food bank wants your help and they need donations to help local families. shawn chitnis with why the need is greater than ever. >> reporter: we are at the alameda county community food bank where they're working hard to get fad to those that need it. in alameda county, one in four are facing food insecurity. let's learn about the goal that they have at the food bank and talk about that. what is that goal? >> people think about the holidays and food banks a lot, especially because of the need. it's also a critical time for fund raising. this holiday season, our food bank needs to raise over $14 million just to meet our budget. >> reporter: that's important because $14 million used to mean something different. >> the last full year before the pandemic, $14 million was our annual budget. so what we were operating on a few years ago, that is just about 50% of our budget now. >> reporter: let's talk about what happened coming out of the pandemic. people were receiving more money from the government and food banks were receiving more funding. that's not the case
