we have a forensics city for which the city dedicates $50,000 a year. it is doing a great job. statistics, recently from the l.a. center, cases that are brought through our center are 10 times more likely to go through the forensics center. we do not have a one-stop shop. what we do have is a lot of smart people. i hope you will hear from them during public comment, who are doing the best on behalf of vulnerable adults. supervisor mirkarimi: you are one slice of this consult but there is a robust network of institutions and nonprofits the city that is focusing on questions of aging and senior needs. growing out of that consult, why is there not a more pointed question and objective being pressed to the city to help satisfy some of these demands? i have had conversations, like the senior tsunami that i have been to that i have spoken at, others that deal with the general health and welfare of those who are aging in san francisco, questions of safety, domestic safety from violence does come up. so why is that level of advocacy not streaming over into this level of advocacy? >> i w

michael hunter a forensic pathologist and chief medical examiner in panama city, florida. dr. , a defense witness, a forensic pathologist has undermined a part of the prosecution's case. she died from the duct tape saying he believed the duct tape was applied long after the body had decomposed because there was no dna material found on the duct tape itself. does he have a point? >> anderson, i don't think so. i think the best you can do is say that the duct tape wasn't placed after the remains became skeletal. i think the duct tape could have been placed prior to death after death, even long after death. but certainly not to the stage where the remains are skeletal. things like that. so the lack of dna, it really does not cause a problem for me in this issue. >> because, why? you could make an argument that water or the elements kind of washed away dna that might have been on there? >> dna is something that is in and of itself, relatively fragile. nuclear dna. it will fragment with the decomposition process so the inability to get a good says men of dna from that type of materi

michael hunter, forensic pathologist and chief medical examiner in panama city, florida. >> as we heardm gary, this woman april whalen in the same jail as casey for a brief period of time had a very similar story to hers about her own son drowning in the family pool being found by his grandfather. what more do we know about this? do we know if there really was a link between her and casey? >> no. and that's what prosecutors are investigating right now. they said today in court outside of the presence of the jury that a citizen had actually called the orange county sheriff's department to report this, that an april whalen an inmate back in 2009 a couple cells done from casey anthony, that in 2007 on christmas day her little son that was close in age to caylee actually drowned in the family swimming pool about 2:20 in the afternoon. the child had disappeared for 20 minutes. the whole family was out trying to find her little son. and it was the grandfather that found the little boy deceased in the pool. so the issue is, april has said she never spoke to casey. she never told casey. never e
