fox business' peter barnes in washington. peter, you've been pouring over the details.t are the most amazing things that you've found? >> well, this coffers about -- covers about $800 million in congressional spending each year for house and senate offices. it's a 380-page handbook that covers everything from how many sheets of paper each senate office has allocated to when senators can use taxpayer money to charter planes. senators booked a million dollars in chartered flights last year, for example, "usa today" reports -- the "usa today" the one that published this today -- that money can go to many vendors, some of them publicly traded. senator mary landrieu, democrat of louisiana, for example, spent about $15,000 for a staff retreat at lowe's annapolis hotel in the march of 2012, these kind of disclosures show. public interest groups have been pushing the senate to release its handbook for years. in a letter citizens for responsibility and ethics in washington says: it should be released to journalists, good government groups and voters, quote, so they can evaluate
