in odessa, fox news. >>> new information tonight about a minor traffic violation that turned into a man hunt at oakland's international airport today. a sheriff deputy tried to pull the suspect over, but authorities say he would not stop and drove through an airport gate and right onto the tarmac. ktvu's greg liggott joins us. >> reporter: had is a very bizarre story that began around noon. a sheriff deputy on patrol trying to make a simple traffic stop and that's when things took a strange ahead. >> the normal buzz when they saw a four-had wheel-drive chevy pickup run through a spotlight. >> he decided to see what was going on with that vehicle. that vehicle took off in a high rate of speed. >> reporter: that pursuit eventually came down this utility road where the driver of the truck ended up smashing through the gate at about 58 miles per hour. after crashing through the gate the driver continued down the road more than half a pile into the area of the runways, eventually jumped out of the runway and went off. authorities used choppers, drones, boats, k-9s to search for the suspect.
