that crash happened in mansfield near the foxborough line overnight. police say a 24-year-old woman was driving north on the southbound side when she hit and killed a 27-year-old taunton man. both were pronounced police have not identified the victims but friends say the man is adam santos. his girlfriend tells us his last text message to her that was he was getting ready to leave work and go home. >>> new twist tonight in a murder case that is decades old. a new hampshire man once arrested for murder faces new charges. ted daniel he was once small town police chief. >> reporter: nearly 30 years ago, mark, robert chambers was forced to resign as the part-time police chief in been arrested for murder. that case never went to trial though and chambers was set free. tone he's back in jail this time accused of sexually abusing a child. that's robert chambers he's 64 years old and according to his public defender in bad health. >> he just completed treatment for cancer. he also has medications that he needs to take for his heart. he has diabetes and he also

bill shields is live with the story tonight in foxborough. >> this was a horrible crash and state police are still trying to piece it together right now. apparently, there was one of those drivers going to the wrong way on 495. it was a horrific crash that left two cars twisted and unrecognizable. and the just after 2 a.m. southbound in mansfield. apparently, one of the drivers was going the wrong way and smashed into the other at high speeds. at daybreak, the visual was worse. police won't say much, only that both drivers died and there were no passengers. one driver was a 24-year-old woman, the other a 26-year-old man who may have been on his way home from his overnight job and they say he was a good hearted person. >> i know him through my cousin. he was dating my cousinning about seven or eight years ago. hard working guy. never had problems with anyone. other than that, that's all i can say. >> it's a shame. >> it is. >> reporter: and the police are not releasing the names of the victims right now partly because they have extended families and they haven't been able to notify everyo

on 495 in mansfield, near foxborough. police say, there was almost no one on the road. but tragedy struck when a 24-year-old southbound lane in a nissan sentra struck and killed a 27-year-old taunton man if his chevy cruz, both pronounced dead on the scene, shortly after first responders arrived. they were called there when another driver came across the crash and called 911. the names of the victims have been withheld by law enforcement, but friends identify the taunton man as adam santos. i spoke with a woman who says it was her boyfriend who was struck woman in this crash. she says one of his last text messages was to her, saying he was getting ready to leave work, and that he was coming home. and while santos is being remembered as hard working and caring, state police are investigating now a second wrong way driving incident this week. in this video sent by a viewer, you can see 22-year-old steven esslery of rockport drive more than 20 miles down route 128 and i-95, before he was sto esslery is due in court tomorrow on drunk driving and wrong-way driving charges. n
