in the last couple years, why has there been such a rise in so many areas about fracking? i know this is an opinion guess for you. >> as i stressed in my testimony the ability to get that fantastic resource out of the shale, you're right, it is incredible technology, but it is new technology. it was developed first in texas somewhat in oklahoma in the south areas which are very different than what's going on now. >> right now there's been an incredible shift on it. this has been known for several years since 2005 legislation on it. why right now has there been such a rush to it. has there been some new breakthrough the epa administrator has told us repeatedly they have not found from epa a single site of ground water contamination from ground water fracking. >> i believe the epa probably said they're not aware where the action of the fracking led to water contamination. there are multiple publicly known cases where there's water contamination associated with the development of shale gas or other types. >> you're talking about from the surface? >> no. including from wells.

fracking. you know that? it's awesome. >> jimmy: fracking?t is fracking? >> hydrofracking is a form of extracting natural gas. you've seen it. the exxon commercial with the really nice looking guy. he's like, "we're exxon. we do amazing things in the world." and they drill down and they pump it with about 7 million gallons of fresh water mixed with about 150,000 gallons of hydraulic fracturing fluids, which contain a lot of carcinogens and benzine. things that you don't want to be drinking. >> jimmy: they just frac the crap out of the earth. >> an they frac the daylights out of it. >> jimmy: yeah, yeah, yeah. what's the big fracking deal with those guys? yeah, yeah. >> i like saying fracking. >> jimmy: it's pretty good. it's a close thing. >> you're almost being naughty. >> jimmy: kids would love saying fracking, yeah. >> my kids are like, "fracking is really fracking bad, dad. isn't it?"
