joining me now from france is nbc news white house correspondent kelley o'donnell and shannon. good to see you. so, kelly, the question that prompted that sales pitch whether or not he can reassure americans he's not looking to profit off the presidency. did he really answer it? >> not directly. in fact, he almost did the thing that would trigger a lot more scrutiny. he sold the idea and he gave many of the attributes of his program and the property and the qualities as if he were back in his former role, of course, the president does not operate the trump properties now but he still has a financial interest. in the time since the president made the comments, there's already pushback. not only are people questioning this idea, senator ron wyden of oregon, the top democrat on the finance committee in the senate is saying he is going to ask the treasury secretary for more information about this and says under no circumstances should the g7 on behalf of the united states be held in a trump-owned property. that that's the height of sell dealing. he's going to have a push on this. so it raises more questions
