san francisco travel. as joe mentioned, i kind of wear three hats but i'm standing in the middle of my world. union square improvement districts and tremendous work that they are doing down here, joe dell sandero with travel and of course due to mayor lee's efforts it's a time for tourism and general manager in this city. thank you. visitors information center. it was a freudian slip because it improved tremendously and it couldn't be in greater location. so all the visitors that come to san francisco from the airport stop right there and come here for information on things to do in the city. it's tremendous for me to be the general manager because i have concierge but the volunteers and the people here are an extension of concierge and giving information for all the visitors that come in and make this a world class city and really visit all the areas, the restaurants, the attractions and everything else this city has to offer. i want to thank again san francisco travel because they are the ones who market

first off the san francisco district serves northern california, santa cruz to the border and san francisco is not all of what we do. in san francisco last year we did about 200 sba loans and average loan size is $500,000. it's pretty good size. it's not the micro-programs that we support through the lenders and working solutions is one of those and we have others in the city and the bay area so we so micro-lending support but the main program is a guarantee loan program and 100 banks do those loans in the area and just san francisco city we did about 200 loans for about 105 million -- at 100 banks in a year. of that about 25% of the total for women owned business and 10% in addition were 50-50 ownership so about a third of the lending in san francisco we did last year were for businesses majority owned women or 50-50 women owned business so a significant percentage. nationally it's 20% of all sba funding is to women owned business so compare san francisco to the rest of the country we do larger percentage in san francisco. again those are larger businesses. as i mentioned they're businesse

it's done in many places in san francisco. you don't have to look very far in our public parks to see see facilities named after individuals, families or in some instances local companies that point to support that particular facility. many of you have been to the many exhibit that again bear the names of many san francisco's most generous families. many employ that task to raise the fund. and it can take many forms from any think i have that articulated in exactly what we're looking at. specifically we're looking at pierce 27 and 29 as this is going to be the site of the americans cup this summer. those facilities are going to be leveraged for the cup. and we'll have the northeast plaza and park and the other amenities. we're talking about perhaps a staircase or an outpost that would be to be recognized as a donation point. and then sites within the northeast plaza i think there, there are into 50 or 60 benches. there's going to be a walkway at setting we're looking at ail those assets to see what would be appropriate and wha

i am the director of the san francisco center for the womens' initiative and i grew up in san francisco and i absolutely seen the power of this organization to change womens' lives, to change our neighborhoods, to change your communities, to change families and you can imagine i have been there a long time and really believe in what we're doing and i am excited to share with you a little bit about our impact and ideas that we may focus on to continue to help so just a little bit for those that don't know about us. we are celebrating our 25th anniversary. we have been providing high potential low income women with business training and funding and on going support to start and actually expand their businesses and become economically self sufficient. a little bit about who we serve. we've actually served over 26,000 women since we began in 1988. 700 women will be served this year in san francisco alone. 99% of our women are low income or extremely low income. fort% are latina. 13% have a documented disability. 23% are over 50 years old and we see women with 15 kinds of barriers as sail eb
