investor confidence in san francisco. and we are strong enough that just this week,-moodies increased our ratings for the general obligation bond very few cities can say that is happening in their down right now. we did the right things create reserve after reserve i have been in those rating meetings and they are like interrogation meetings kind-of like a deposition if you have been to one of those and they are asking every single question that is hard to answer questions like if the state famous you what are you goingdo about it? what do you have in place if the federal government fails in their successstration what programs are failed here and what plans do you have to recover?. if you are not answering those with a lot of confidence you are not going to get the moodies rating increased at all and if you are able to do that with a solid t and i want to thank again the board of supervisor and is i know supervisor chu and reno are here today but i want to thank the entire board for creating an entire investor confidence

san francisco travel. as joe mentioned, i kind of wear three hats but i'm standing in the middle of my world. union square improvement districts and tremendous work that they are doing down here, joe dell sandero with travel and of course due to mayor lee's efforts it's a time for tourism and general manager in this city. thank you. visitors information center. it was a freudian slip because it improved tremendously and it couldn't be in greater location. so all the visitors that come to san francisco from the airport stop right there and come here for information on things to do in the city. it's tremendous for me to be the general manager because i have concierge but the volunteers and the people here are an extension of concierge and giving information for all the visitors that come in and make this a world class city and really visit all the areas, the restaurants, the attractions and everything else this city has to offer. i want to thank again san francisco travel because they are the ones who market

she moved to san francisco in the 1960's. one memory her daughter often jocks about is her mother never publicly said her age. we can say with confidence that she was pretty senior, and she had beautiful memories of the hills for it's sunny weather and very friendly neighborhood. she worked as a physical educational teacher at the she was a founding member of many organizations. she also carved out a sign for the benchs and laid out stone mosaic. she had her hand in prompting community gardens and had a hand in the design of interstate 280. now anyone that has a hand in the design of a freeway, you know, has got to be pretty strong-willed and that is exactly what she was. she had some say in the development of at&t park and we can thank her for bringing the 19 bus to potrillo hill. i am the director of the san francisco center for the womens' initiative and i grew up in san francisco and i absolutely seen the power of this organization to change womens' lives, to change our neighborhoods, to change your communities, to change families and you can imagine i have been there a long time and really believe in what we're doing and i am excited to share with you a little bit about our impact and ideas that we may focus on to continue to help so just a little bit for those that don't know about us. we are celebrating our 25th anniversary. we have been providing high potential low income women with business training and funding and on going support to start and actually expand their businesses and become economically self sufficient. a little bit about who we serve. we've actually served over 26,000 women since we began in 1988. 700 women will be served this year in san francisco alone. 99% of our women are low income or extremely low income. fort% are latina. 13% have a documented disability. 23% are over 50 years old and we see women with 15 kinds

[ applause ] abdullah says he has something after me. you know, i don't want to get, as supervisor breed mentioned, emotional, but i do want to say that although i have been here before, and spoken in front of the board of supervisors, today is especially unique and special, because supervisor breed is among the board of supervisors. and i think when we talk about -- you know, i appreciate the opportunity to be recognized and acknowledged, but when you talk about being a symbol for a community of hope and determination, i think supervisor breed represented that for not just the western edition, but youth all over. i have been really fortunate in my life to be able to go to places where people are interested in helping and supporting from the board

very proud to say that since the year 2,000 wells fargo has contributed more than $7,000 to the san francisco general foundation but just as important as the dollars that we give are the volunteer hours that our volunteer members donate to the many events around here that support the general. so now, on to the important stuff. and that is to honor our hero and is this year's hero and is heart's award recipients are leader in the community who inspire others to exceptional community service and i'm thrilled to be here to celebrate the community leaders the heros amongst us on behalf of all of the bay area team members that work at wells fargo the 25,000 of us. i have to tell you that we all thank the heros for their dedication to this community. the two men that we are going to honor today, display incomparable dedication to improving the mission neighborhood by helping former gang members and vulnerable use get on the right track. after nearly seven years on the police force san francisco police officers john coffee and david san's mission state and is gang enforcement officers became frustra

first off the san francisco district serves northern california, santa cruz to the border and san francisco is not all of what we do. in san francisco last year we did about 200 sba loans and average loan size is $500,000. it's pretty good size. it's not the micro-programs that we support through the lenders and working solutions is one of those and we have others in the city and the bay area so we so micro-lending support but the main program is a guarantee loan program and 100 banks do those loans in the area and just san francisco city we did about 200 loans for about 105 million -- at 100 banks in a year. of that about 25% of the total for women owned business and 10% in addition were 50-50 ownership so about a third of the lending in san francisco we did last year were for businesses majority owned women or 50-50 women owned business so a significant percentage. nationally it's 20% of all sba funding is to women owned business so compare san francisco to the rest of the country we do larger percentage in san francisco. again those are larger businesses. as i mentioned they're businesse

we employ over 1400 partners in san francisco and which 85% live within san francisco. we are a long-term member of the san francisco work force investment board. we are a founding member of the united way bay area road map to cut poverty committee. last year we were supporter of the mayor's summer jobs youth program. this year we are as well and recommit today adding 50 more partners in 2013. april 27th this year we worked with the san francisco giants and dpw to have a san francisco clean sweep. we have 1400 partners, families, customers and businesses and working together contributing 500 hours to clean up the city in nine different areas. our partners participate in monthly dpw events. star bucks also supports charitable nonprofit organizations to cash and in kind donation. some examples are united way of bay area, bay area scores, community growth, friends of san francisco public library, san francisco aids walk, and the lgbt community center and glide. that's a small slice of what we do in local community and regionally wise, too. now to talk about our projected s

my family has been in san francisco for 125 years. any other grandfather was here in the 1800 and my grandmother was the lead are of the garment union. we are in the house, right? i think it's not that we are so cool or whatever, good job, but we stand on the shoulders of giants. look at you. we are all different colors. this is amazing. the jazz festival came out of many cultures. we had to work against redevelopment. this is how the jas festival started. the music with do, the stories we do come out of real life. mark worked with the restaurant union. you know, the stories we do, the music we do comes out alive here in san francisco and to be honored for it is not just as the young brother said, over here, it's not really about us. it's about the people that we are representing and nowadays. the way history is being written is through music and stories and images on the internet and artist have been doing that for a long time. i would like to acknowledge kerry schulman vment she's been representing people of color in this city for a

in san francisco. he is integrated with job-creation and we have teamed up to create 6,000 jobs for youth and disadvantaged kids. so education for me is a direct link to our new modern 21st century workforce we must have. so much that literally every trip to washington, d.c., because of the advocacy that we have through our school district and keeping me informed of the different programs to advocate. i was there with certificate arnie duncan this morning where we were thanking him for the investment in promise neighborhoods and the school investment grants coming from the federal government. we have to keep that dialogue going and i'm adding to that. for example, i think to answer i have personally adopted all the middle schooled as my philanthropic goal as along as i am mayor of san francisco. all 12 middle middle schools are going to get more of the resources that they need to be successful. i adopted the middle schools for a direct purpose. i asked our school district where is the biggest drop-off

and just one more note on the san francisco transportation plan. i won't spend much time on it during today's presentation, but we have been updating it in parallel to this process and are approaching the final throws of that this summer. ~ so, i have two slides that sort of overview what is in the plan bay area in terms of transportation investment. the first one shows a breakdown of all of the funding that is expected to come into the region between now and 20 40. that includes federal, state, regional funds ~. it also includes locally generated funds. some examples of that would be the prop k tax that we administer here in san francisco. also the type of transportation investment that comes with new development that comes from the private sector. so, there are $289 billion expected from all the sources between now and 20 40 which sounds like a tremendous amount of money. it is actually not enough relative to the needs that have been projected. and this sort of shows how that funding is broken down with the two big chunks representing maintenance

francisco giants. the home of innovation. san francisco the place where we spent many years trying to fight graffiti; we have not reached the place where we are at zero graffiti. i spent a lot of time as a neighborhood activist. like many of you, i spent many hours in neighborhood cleanups, using different chemicals to deal with graffiti; as a small business owner person i heard from hundreds of merchants. as a prosecutor i'm glad i don't recognized any of you. i recognize how difficult it is for the police and judges to prioritize. graffiti needs to be treated seriously. i want to thank those of you who were part of the 2009 program. we have an amazing rewards program; a graffiti advisory board to help us innovate. we feel that the best ideas are in the heads and the brainchilds of people around the world. how many are from california? how many from the east coast? welcome. i hope it's a -- in the west coast. how many are from the midwest and the south? thank you for coming. how many from canada? welc

liz bryson with the san francisco county transportation authority. and the authority has been very involved in sort of coordinating san francisco's input into the funding process. we've had a really great experience working with all of the relevant agencies, the planning department, the sfmta's mayor's office of housing, among others. there has been some real successes as a result of that coordination and we've had great wins for san francisco in that process. so, sarah gave a great overview of the new requirements of doing this joint regional land use and transportation plan as a result of [speaker not understood]. just a little bit of background on the transportation component of that. the region a.m. transportation plan, this is something that the region has been doing for many, many years, updated every four years, and it's important to note a little bit about the regional transportation is and is not. so, it kind of has two roles. on the one hand it is a sort of symbolic policy commitment by the region of what the region's transportation investm
