court of san francisco. today the court system is one of the largest lgbtq organizations in the world with 68 courts around the united states, canada and mexico. the imperial court of san francisco raises up to $100,000 annually for a variety of charities including the gay-straight alliance, san francisco suicide prevention. he passed away and to honour him, h we want to induct him ino the hall of fame. founder of the stewart milk and city college of san francisco board of trustees. though jose was not successful to the board of supervisors, the trail he blazed for all of the queer politicos he would follow and all rights in san francisco and around the world, make him deserving of induction into the hall of fame. the resolution will put this board on record as supporting his induction so his memory and incredible work will serve for generations to come. i want to thank my supervisors. the rest i submit. >> mr. president, that concludes introductions of new business. >> ok, thank you, madam clerk. so colleag

san francisco.ight now through my agency, we've been noticing every year especially for the past four years, it's getting harder and harder to purchase coverage for habitability lawsuits. the price goes higher and higher. one of the first questions they ask us when we tell them we're presenting application on behalf of s.r.o. hotel what percentage of the units rented on a weekly basis and what percentage are rented on a monthly basis in the weekly we have, the easier it is to negotiate rates. i'm afraid in the short-term i'm making more money out of this, i'm afraid in the long-term we're not going to get habitability coverage for these type of properties. that's going to affect everybody that lives in these buildings including class of people that supervisors is attempting to protect here. i'm just concerned that all the implications of this law haven't been taken into full consideration. i would invite supervisors to bring industry experts in and really let you guys know all the effects that this

these are the likely and actual ipos in san francisco, for san francisco companies in 2019. two of which have already occurred. others on the list, you see here airbnb nb, post mates,/, and uber. levi strauss also went public this year. we did not include them since we are focusing on the tech industry and their practices and characteristics. for these companies that have gone public or are expected to this year, we have 7,999 -- 7,990 employees estimated in san francisco. we did not get the pinterest number, that would bump it up even higher. these companies have more employees worldwide, but we focus on those in san francisco because that is where we will feel the impact when the exercise their stock options. we prepared an estimate of what the impact could be of the i.p.o. on san francisco housing prices and that is shown in this chart, and how we went about this, first of all, there are many variables to consider when you are attempting to do this. one of the key ones being how many employees are going to have stock options when they will be allowed to exercise them, how

what sets san francisco apart this is the only level one trauma center in san francisco. we want to ensure those in san francisco can receive the excellent trauma care without undue financial burden or stress. thank you for that. one question for you. is there any change in how the hospital would be pursuing litigation or other measures with the insurers to secure payment for them or is it the same process always in place? >> it will be the same process, and i think the point that you are getting at is worth emphasizing. there are three hospitals. the hospitals, the insurers and the patients. we view a lot of this as an effort to protect the patients but also to continue to be aggressive in pursuing ferry imbursement -- reimbursement fromsures companies. a lot of cases are out of situations where the insurer is not providing adequate compensation for the benefit their customer is receiving. we want to take the patient out of the middle of that. we are providing service and we will continue to be active in seeking reimbursement from insurance companies and that including t

san francisco, and what happens in san francisco is very important for me because san francisco is near and dear to my heart. this is a little bit about my background, i am an attorney. i started off that the san francisco public defender's office where i worked for six and a half years, representing all kinds of people from all walks of life, mostly poor people. what that gave me was the ability to ask tough questions, and not only ask tough questions , but demand answers, it also gave me the ability to deal with a voluminous caseload, from what i understand, the ethics commission is a little bit backed up, so i'm used to dealing with value, i am now a civil rights attorney on the plaintive's side where i represent people who have been abused by the police, as well as dealing with employment discrimination on the plaintiff 's side, so if someone is wrongfully terminated, i deal with that kind of stuff, and what that gave me the ability to do is to hold everyone accountable, because a lot of the people i speak to are powerful, with lots of money and lots of resources. i think government

we are here at the san francisco urban center on mission street in san francisco and i'm joined today marrielen from puc and talk about water and sewer issues. what are things we should be concerned about water. >> you want to be prepared for that scenario and the recommendation is to have stored 1 gallon per person per day that you are out of water. we recommend that you have at least 3-5 days for each person and also keep in consideration storage needs for your pets and think about the size of your pets and how much water they consume. >> the storage which is using tap water which you are going to encourage. >> right. of course at the puc we recommend that you store our wonderful delicious tap water. it's free. it comes out of the tap and you can store it in any plastic container, a clean plastic container for up to 6 months. so find a container, fill it with water and label it and rotate it out. i use it to water my garden. >> of course everyone has plastic bottles which we are not really promoting but it is a common way to store it. >> yes. it's an easy way to pick up bottles to s

san francisco is one of the most beautiful places to visit. the crooked street is one of the top tourist destinations 2 million visitors each year. tourists are vital to our city and economy. they present challenges. on a busy day 20,000 people visit this area by foot and in cars. for a decade i worked to manage the crowds by trying several different things. i started the lombard ambassador program to assist visitors. we added parking control. we have signs. we increased police enforcement and did a pilot program to shut street to traffic to see what that would do. each action has made an impact. they are unable to properly manage the crowds with the rapid growth of visitors. as i said in the last community meeting we have yet to nail this. this is something we must try to address the congestion that jams all of these streets and the surroundings areas. the bumper to bumper traffic is an environmental problem and can make this experience miserable for tourists. rather than waiting in line for 45 minutes visitors will have a reservation and dri

i am a resident of district six in san francisco. i really feel that the naming of rose rose pack would only bring shame to chinatown in san francisco, so i decided to join the coalition against naming after rose pack, and volunteer my time over the weekend. i visit my friends about 40 business owners in chinatown. more than 30 of them are against naming after rose pack, and we want to name the subway station of chinatown station. this shows that the business owners in chinatown want to have the name of chinatown station. this is the voice of people of chinatown. i would like to ask the supervisor of chinatown, would you please leave the business owners in chinatown and listen to their worries, and respect their choices. as a voter of six districts, i would like to also ask the board board, especially my district supervisor, to support the chinatown merchants and residents choice and not name rose pack for any public structure. thank you. >> thank you. next speaker, please.
