we moved to san francisco early on.e mission district and moved out to daily city and bounced back to san francisco. we lived across the street from the ups building. for me, when my earliest memories were the big brown trucks driving up and down the street keeping us awake at night. when i was seven-years-old and i'm in charge of making sure we get on the bus on time to get to school. i have to make sure that we do our homework. it's a lot of responsibility for a kid. the weekends were always for family. we used to get together and whether we used to go watch a movie at the new mission theater and then afterwards going to kentucky fried chicken. that was big for us. we get kentucky fried chicken on sunday. whoa! go crazy! so for me, home is having something where you are all together. whether it's just together for dinner or whether it's together for breakfast or sharing a special moment at the holidays. whether it's thanksgiving or christmas or birthdays. that is home. being so close to berkley and oakland and san fra

of the san francisco medical society. we represent over 3000 positions living in san francisco and marin. we had a long history of advocating for theright to choose . a long history of advocating for access for patients to exercise this right and we feel that abortion is a medical decision tobe made by patient and her physician .i wanted to tell you a story. i was telling this trauma physician as i was coming here today and he told me the story resonated with me and has some real lessons. it was a trauma surgeon and the woman had a traumatic brain injury and she was brain-dead . as part of the evaluation for trauma they checked for pregnancy turned up thiswoman was pregnant . she was stable and she was pregnant. it turns out they were working institution that shall we say is less than forward thinking about reproductive rights . and you know, normally this womanwould have been onlife support for 30 days . i'm sorry, 30 months . to carry this fetus to term. and the right thing to do in this situation is to withdraw care on

. >> in the early 90s, san francisco hired some engineers to analyze the material san francisco was sending to landfill. they did a waste characterization study, and that showed that most of the material san francisco was sending to landfill could be composted. it was things like food scraps, coffee grounds and egg shells and sticks and leaves from gardening. together re-ecology in san francisco started this curbside composting program and we were the first city in the country to collect food scraps separately from other trash and turn them into compost. it turns out it was one of the best things we ever did. it kept 2.5 million tons of material out of the landfill, produced a beautiful nutrient rich compost that has gone on to hundreds of farms, orchards and vineyards. so in that way you can manage your food scraps and produce far less methane. that is part of the solution. that gives people hope that we're doing something to slow down climate change. >> i have been into soil biology or the microbes feed the plant and our job as regenerative farmers is to feed the microbes with compost and

san francisco's sales tax has had the weakest recovery in california and in san francisco, it's belowion, but it's particularly announced in the northeast sector of the city. where the leisure and hospitality jobs are concentrated is where we've seen the sales tax drop and we're not seeing office workers and we're not seeing tourism and we're not seeing population. so why is this happening in the office market? i just have a couple more slides. there was earlier in the pandemic when everybody was sort of forced to work remotely, a bit of a disconnect about what would happen after the pandemic with a lot of workers wanting to stay remote and a lot of employers wanting people to come back. a professor at stanford university nick bloom and his colleagues have been doing monthly surveys about working from home and this data comes from that. and what it basically shows through march of this year is that employees are winning that battle. that gap is closing and it's closing by employers conceding that more time will be spent working at home and less time will be spent in the office. when t

i have been a resident of san francisco for 18 years. since being released from jail, in march of this year on charges i don't believe will stand, i have experienced extraordinary distribution in the matter of housing. i believe that someone what may not have been a member of the hot team was arranged to intercept me and bring me to the next door shelter at 1001 polk. where on multiple occasions i woke up with contusions to my ribs. during the time i stayed there off and on, i have contracted at the very least, a plate. i had my wrist broken to prevent me from filling out forms. i have been denied access to phones, my mail and i have been robbed of clothes and other personal items on the site of the shelter. that is just tip of the iceberg. considering the amount of available housing in the city, that everyone who is homeless is not home is a shame and disgrace. thank you for your time. >> clerk: thank you for your comments to the board. are there any members of the public who are here in the chamber who are wishing to speak to the board

(applause). it has been clear that it is important to have reforms, to push for reforms to transform our police department and also equally important to make sure that we have officers that represent the community and that are part of the fabric of the community here to serve and protect us. those are not the only issues that matt dorsey cares about and is focused on. many issues around workers right and tenants rights are things he is unwavering in supporting communities. this was a hard decision. there were so many extra ordinary candidates. i want to thank all candidates who participated in this process and put their name forward. it takes courage to be part of the process like

we're based in san francisco and oakland. huge gender gap in the music production and recording industry. i started women's audio mission about 19 years ago. it started at city college of san francisco, where a group of students -- again, we were trying to address the lack of women in our classes, and it just grew exponentially from that small group. so wam has programs that serve middle and high school girls, free music production and training and mentoring for them, as well as certification programs for adults in music production and audio production. we have an internship program, and that's where our job placement typically happens. we have conferences that we put on across the country to bring the magic of wam everywhere. and we have an artist residency program that provides free recording residencies in these studios, specifically for bipoc, or black indigenous people of color -- artists that need that support to get an album out or create new work. >> i've always been a singer, and didn't think that i could be a musici

in the city of san francisco. proposition k is not a post-pandemic plan. it is not a plan that takes into account the voters voting no on proposition a this is a plan that does not listen to the voters. in 2016, the voters of san francisco rejected a renewal of proposition k, very much like this quote-unquote renewal of proposition k. proposition k was authorized in 2003 for 30 years. we have heard this is another 30-year extension. notice it is not 2033. it is 2022. why are they extending this? in 2017, after the failure of 2016's proposition k renewal, san francisco went out and borrowed $250 million on future sales tax revenue... san francisco city leaders are hanging the aids memorial quilt from san francisco city hall.he idea of the memorial was born right here in san francisco. in 1985, as you can see, there are now more than 50,000. quilt panels and 3000 of those panels will be on display in golden gate park this saturday and sunday. it is the largest display in san francisco since 1988. after today's display at city hall, the full memorial quilt will be displayed at golden gate park this saturday and sunday. you can see this is a live picture of it, hanging there on the polk street side of city hall. even though we've already had some fires pop up in parts of the north bay, santa rosa fire department says today marks the official start of fire season property owners are being told to clear 30 ft of space around their homes, clean leaves out of gutters and removed grass and debris from under porches and decks. every household should have an evacuation plan, a place to meet and a go bag with enough supplies to get people through at least 72 hours away from home. officials want everyone to have a co
