i'm frank holland.et's get you ready for the trading day ahead. the s&p and nasdaq coming off back-to-back winning days. the market is a bit mixed. s&p lower. the dow would open seven points higher. nasdaq is down 18 points. this action we're seeing here is after a very rare warning from the fed on the state of the stock market. comments yesterday, lisa cook offering a blunt assessment saying, quote, valuations are elevated a number of assets classes including equity and corporate debt suggesting markets re price to perfection. we want to look at the pre-market gainers on the s&p 500. a chip named micron up 5%. first energy and derna and uber with fmc rounding out the top five. nvidia shares with jensen huang speaking at ces. announcing nvidia's mini desk stop. nvidia sparking a rally. chip nation mes moving higher. similar for intel and broadcom and micron here. we will talk more about the chips and what nvidia's ceo had to say with sara kunst in a moment. the bond market is holding steady. jolts later

i'm frank holland. let's look at futures with the first trading day of the year. the s&p post ing 20% gains for back-to-back years. the s&p coming off the first four-day slide to even their nt year since 1976. the dow looks like it could open up more than 200 points higher. the nasdaq up almost 200 points. we will do a check of s&p 500 pre-market gainers. look at the top of the list. cooper. a medical tech company up 6%. snap-on, a tool company, up about 2.5%. allegion and omnicom rounding out the list. we want to look at small caps. off to a positive start to the year despite a huge run up after election. small cap futures are up .50% right now. one area that's impacted the small cap trade and broader market is yields. ten-year starting 2025 about 60 basis points higher than it started 2024. that's despite 100 basis points of fed cuts coming in last year. the ten-year at 4.54. easing back from the level we saw in the final days of 2024. 4.54 as i mentioned. entering the new year, oil is moving higher a

i'm frank holland. let's get you ready for the trading day head. we begin with the check of futures with the s&p 500 and dow on two-day win streaks, but the nasdaq on a four-day slide. the dow looks like it would open 140 points higher. the nasdaq is the best on the percentage basis. the s&p up just about .50 now. we look at the pre-market gainers. look at what is pushing that index higher. lennar up 4%. palantir, after pressure on stock in recent days, up 3% in the pre-market. followed by ge vernova and sempra and d.r. horton. we check the bond market. that yield pressure continues to weigh on equities. the ten-year at the highest level since november of 2023. the 20-year above 5%. the benchmark at 4.77. it has risen about 20 basis points since the start of the year. we also want to look at energy. oil near a four-month high. take a look at the oil picture. wti trading below 80 bucks a barrel. you can see it has pulled back down almost 4%. a big rise here at the start of 2025. we're also seeing a bit o

i'm frank holland. we begin this hour with the check of u.s. stock futures. wall street had a strong close on friday breaking a four-day losing streak for the s&p. taking a look at futures. you see right now the s&p up 28 points. dow up 70 points higher. that is fractionally higher on the percentage basis. nasdaq, the best performer in the pre-market, it is up .75% or more than 150 points. we look at the action in the s&p 500. you see at the top of the list. moderna shares up 3.5%. followed by micron. we told you there is a chip rally under way. shares up 3%. fortinet and revvity and verisign. one major question as we look at the markets in the new year. the direction of the momentum with the s&p closing below the 50-day moving average. very close. a bit of a rally on friday. closing below the 50-day moving average over the last two months with the s&p moving side ways. another question for the market is narrow necessary. a lot of focus on a.i. as ces begins this trade. a lot of eyes on ceo jensen huang. you can see over the last month, the mag seven up 1.5%.

i'm frank holland. we begin with a look at u.s. stock futures with the markets falling after the friday's stronger than expected jobs report that led to the upside in yields. that is one that is rattling are investors. take a look. we are deep in the red across the board. s&p down almost 1%. the dow would open 160 points lower. right here, the nasdaq down more than 280 points. down just about 1.5%. right now, i want to look at the pre-market action on the nasdaq 100. take a look at those stocks moving the index lower. arm holdings down 4%. similar for alantir and micro strategy. let's look last week. it was and down week overall. the nasdaq down two weeks in a row. here is the percentage moves. the dow falling more than 1.3%. the s&p down almost 2% last week. the nasdaq down almost 2%. russell falling 3.5%. now in correction territory. this weakness on wall street contributed to the rise in the bond yields. the 20-year not showing here, crossing the 5% mark. the benchmark at 4.78. we will continue to talk about that throughout the
